Practice and CultureThis position supports the Corewell Health William Beaumont University Structural Heart program residing in the Ernst Cardiovascular Center. Clerical tasks including but not limited to scheduling data collection for registry requirements coordination and communication with team members referring providers and ancillary departments. Experience preferred in Microsoft office programs and EPIC medical record system.Job SummaryThe Intake Assistant is responsible for referral processing providing accurate and complete data input for pre-authorization requests while effectively communicating to internal and external customers.Essential FunctionsObtains initial and subsequent insurance authorization and pre-certification for in office procedures treatments and services.Researches additional or alternative resources for non-covered services to prevent payment denials.Maintains a close working relationship with site Patient Financial Counselor.Communicates with clinical staff PFC and management regarding restrictions or unique requirements for insurance plans.Maintains a current working knowledge of authorization requirements for all payers and of state and federal regulatory guidelines.Assists in maintaining manuals logs and other required documentation.Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and the clinic/corporation.Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office.Covers for and assists with other front office functions as requested.Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsRequiredHigh School Diploma or equivalentKnowledge of Medical TerminologyExcellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite EHR/EMR and insurance portals.Great Communication skillsPreferredA minimum of (3) years of medical business office experience with insurance procedures and patient interaction.Additional clinical backgroundAbout Corewell HealthAs a team member at Corewell Health you will play an essential role in delivering personalized health care to our patients members and our communities.
