Job SummaryThe Financial Controls Summer Intern will support the Financial Controls and Internal Audit teams in evaluating enhancing and monitoring the companys internal control environment. This internship offers hands-on experience in SOX compliance risk assessment and control testing activities within the insurance industry.OrganizationThis position will report directly to the Senior Financial Controls Advisor and collaborate with members of the Financial Controls Internal Audit and other cross-functional teams throughout F&G. This position provides exposure to all levels of management across the organization.Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities may include but are not limited to:Control Testing and Documentation: Participate in testing internal controls over financial reporting review supporting documentation and assist with control evaluation proceduresProcess Improvement: Collaborate with team members to identify and implement process improvements that strengthen internal controls and enhance operational efficiencyRisk Assessment Support: Work with the Financial Controls team to identify potential risks and control weaknesses in financial processes and systemsAudit Support: Support internal and external audit processes by gathering documentation conducting research and responding to audit inquiriesReporting and Analysis: Prepare reports and summaries of internal control findings emerging trends and recommendations for management reviewCross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various departments to gather information identify control gaps and develop solutionsDocumentation Maintenance: Maintain accurate and current documentation of internal control processes procedures and test resultsSpecial Projects: Contribute to ad-hoc projects and initiatives related to internal controls SOX compliance and regulatory requirements as assignedExperience and EducationCurrently enrolled in a Bachelors or Masters degree program in Accounting Finance Business Administration or related fieldMinimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) within majorPreferred: Junior or senior standing (or graduate student)Knowledge Skills and Abilities Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with exceptional attention to detailExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environmentStrong organizational and time management abilitiesProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite particularly ExcelAbility to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive informationInterest in pursuing a career in financial services audit or compliance (preferred)Internship Program BenefitsCompetitive hourly compensationComplimentary company parkingPaid company holidays401(k) plan eligibilityAccess to additional benefits available to similarly situated F&G employees subject to plan eligibility requirementsAdditional Information Work EnvironmentsF&G believes in an employee-centric flexible environment which is why we offer the ability for in-office hybrid and remote work arrangements.
