Job Description

Providence Portland Medical Center Department of Medical Education is seeking an exceptional General Internist to join the Providence Portland Internal Medicine Residency Program in a mixed faculty/clinical role.

This department is made up of a collaborative group of clinician educators who are passionate about training the next generation of physicians. Our program of 31 residents and 14 core clinician-educator faculty emphasize mentorship, role modeling, and rigorous clinical experiences that balance clinical exposure in a variety of settings (including outpatient medicine, inpatient medicine, and subspecialties) with an understanding of a patient-centered care model, evidence-based medicine, and a focus on quality improvement. Additionally, we host medical students from Oregon Health & Science University and Washington State University on core rotations each month. We offer a supportive, flexible, work environment that embraces diversity and innovation. This position comes with protected time for teaching and scholarly activity.

  • Full-time, up to 1.0 FTE
  • Outpatient primary care + resident education and teaching
  • Modest time for inpatient wards attending may be available to interested candidates
  • Provider time will be split between clinical FTE (0.6 FTE for direct care of your own patient panel and precepting residents) and faculty FTE (0.4 FTE for teaching, evaluation, scholarly activity, monthly faculty development sessions, and curriculum development)
  • Board-certification or board-eligible in Internal Medicine required
  • Prior experience in academic medicine or prior faculty position preferred
