The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking an International Program Specialist to support the Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) Program. VALET is a two-year international business acceleration program that provides Virginia businesses with international sales plan development services, educational events, funding for international activities, and customized market research.
The International Program Specialist is responsible for helping to plan orientation and other program events, reviewing and processing reimbursements for Virginia businesses, providing advisory support on market research, supporting special projects and initiatives, and developing marketing content to communicate with the VALET Program community.
This position is part of VEDP's International Trade division, which is recognized as the leading state international trade development program in the U.S. The International Trade division provides a range of resources such as customized market research, international business meetings, and programs to help Virginia companies grow their international sales. Responsibilities:
Plan educational and networking events for businesses participating in the VALET Program in collaboration with program managers by proposing relevant content, identifying speakers, and coordinating event detailsCreate and update program documents and materials for events based on marketing guidelinesDevelop and deliver promotional content for emails and social media posts to keep the VALET Program community informed about relevant topics and upcoming eventsContribute and implement ideas to support and enhance the program, including outreach and networking opportunities, for the program communityProcess requests for reimbursement from businesses while following program guidelinesSupport the program application process by coordinating a list of target companies, monitoring eligibility of applicants, and compiling application dataHelp maintain and leverage data in Salesforce by creating reports and updating program data as requestedConsider and coordinate research projects relevant to VALET companies with the VEDP research team as appropriateSupport the implementation of program initiatives and special projects, including the VALET Alumni Advisory CouncilAssist Program Managers in supporting participating companies in executing their VALET Program objectives, including participating in client meetings and assisting with client management tasks as neededSkills:
Superior skills in building relationships with team members and clients, with the ability to provide efficient, friendly, and thorough supportExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailDemonstrated ability to proactively manage multiple priorities and deadlinesComfortable using technology such as Salesforce and task management software to track requests and prioritize projectsExperience:
Professional experience with event planning, marketing, communications, business administration, or international affairsExperience interpreting and applying guidelines and procedures when working on projectsDemonstrated ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with Salesforce and task management software is a plusKnowledge of international business practices or foreign cultures is a plusA valid driver's license and passport are requiredCandidates must have U.S. worker authorization statusThis position is based in VEDP's office in Richmond, Virginia three days each week and has the option to telework two days each week according to VEDP's hybrid work policy. This position requires occasional in-state and international travel.
