Job Details
We are seeking an associate to join our International Trade Compliance practice, advising clients on complex regulatory frameworks governing global trade and national security. This role focuses on export controls and sanctions matters, with meaningful exposure to compliance counseling, investigations, and regulatory strategy.
You will work directly with clients to navigate evolving regulatory requirements, assist with the development of compliance programs, and address potential enforcement risks. This is a hands-on opportunity to build a highly specialized practice while working in a collaborative and close-knit team environment.
Responsibilities
Advise clients on compliance with export controls and sanctions regulations, including ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and related frameworks
Assist with matters involving foreign investment review and national security considerations
Conduct internal investigations related to potential compliance issues
Draft voluntary disclosures and assist with interactions with regulatory agencies
Develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and training materials
Support compliance audits, risk assessments, and regulatory reviews
Assist with licensing, classification, and regulatory filings
Work directly with clients to provide practical, business-oriented compliance guidance
Qualifications
2 to 6 years of experience in international trade compliance, export controls, or related regulatory work
Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, sanctions regulations, and foreign investment review processes
Experience with investigations, voluntary disclosures, or compliance program development preferred
Prior in-house or government experience is a plus
Strong academic credentials and law firm or relevant regulatory experience preferred
Requirements
Licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work directly with clients in a fast-paced environment
Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving
