Visit or download the free PBS app to explore our local programs and learn more about Austin PBS.Position OverviewAustin PBS is seeking a motivated and intellectually curious undergraduate student to join our Archives team as an Archive Intern. This 14-week part-time paid internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with archival materials digital preservation workflows and legacy media formats. Youll work closely with our Director of Archives and Digital Archives Specialist to support the preservation and accessibility of Austin PBSs rich public media history. This role is ideal for students interested in pursuing graduate studies in Library and Information Studies (LIS) Archival Studies or the broader Library Archives and Museum (LAM) fields.Role & ResponsibilitiesSupport digitization of photographs audio and video materialsAssist with the arrangement and description of unprocessed archival collectionsHelp create finding aids and metadata using schemas such as Dublin CoreOrganize and clean existing archival datasets to enhance usabilityRespond to research requests and inquiries from Austin PBS staff and the publicParticipate in special archive projects pop-up displays and station-wide eventsBenefitsGain experience in archival work within a public media organizationReceive mentorship from experienced professionals in both analog and digital preservationBuild skills applicable to graduate studies in LIS or related programsContribute to meaningful preservation initiatives that support community memoryEligibility to enter the staff ticket lottery for Austin City Limits Season 52 tapingsImportant InformationResume and Cover Letter required when applyingApplications open: November 14th 2025Deadline to Apply: December 5th 2025Internship Duration: January 26th - May 8th 2026Pay Rate: $20/hrRequirementsMinimum QualificationsCurrent undergraduate student must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program during the full duration of the internshipEnrolled in a relevant degree program (e.g. History Photography Computer Science Anthropology Data Analytics etc.)Strong written and verbal communication skillsInterest in archives digital preservation storytelling and public mediaBasic familiarity with digital media formats and file types is a plusAbility to lift and carry boxes up to 30lbsWillingness to learn and collaborate with a cross collaborative teamMust be able to work in-person for the full duration of the internshipPhysical DemandsThe working environment is primarily a general office setting with tasks that may include lifting archival boxes (up to 30 lbs) and handling legacy media formats with care.Equal Opportunity EmployerAustin PBS believes that diversity is essential to our mission.
