Internship Outage Services Engineer at Calpine

Since its founding in 1984 Calpine has led the power industry in its unwavering commitment to environmental addition its renewable geothermal plants use steam generated deep below the earths surface to produce clean renewable electricity.Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following other duties may be assigned)Will assist in the planning and implementation of outages on turbo machinery from initial planning to final completion. Will assist in the repair of gas and steam turbine components. Will assist with reviews of operating status of the units on a periodic basis and tracks component repairs from a technical and financial standpoint. Will learn to develop optimized outage work scopes to reduce the outage turn times and implements throughout the Calpine Turbine fleet. Will learn to develop and maintains specialty tools to reduce outage turn times. Assists plants with developing spare parts inventory and recommendations for outages.Job RequirementsCandidate should be a rising Junior Senior or Masters degree working towards a degree in Engineering at an accredited college or university.Minimum 3.0 GPA required.Legally eligible to work in the US now and in the future.Demonstrated coding skills using Matlab/Python etc.Strong Excel skills (Vlookup Sumifs Pivot Tables Macros)Demonstrated modeling aptitude creating complex Excel models.Ability to apply analytical tools such as TableauKnowledge of the energy industry specifically the power or utility sector is a plus.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Good problem solving and analytical abilityGood organization skills and attention to details are essentialMust be flexible and able to work harmoniously with others in a dynamic environment.Must be able to self-start and manage multiple simultaneous tasks and priorities.Must have reliable transportation to and from work.Additional Calpine InformationEqual Opportunity Employer of Minorities Females Protected Veterans and Individuals with Disabilities.Calpine is committed to Equal Employment Opportunity and providing reasonable accommodations to applicants with physical and/or mental disabilities.
