The course will focus primarily on grievance arbitration and examine both procedural and substantive issues including the scope of arbitration pre-arbitration and arbitration processes and select issues in arbitration discipline and discharge contract interpretation disability accommodation privacy and discrimination. Mediation and med/arb as alternative dispute resolution mechanisms will also be discussed. The format will be a combination of lecture/seminar class discussion in-class exercises video review and mock arbitration. Previous experience in teaching a similar course is preferred.Description of Duties:Prepare a course syllabus in accordance with departmental guidelines. Prepare and deliver lectures (12 two-hour classes); be available for office hours and informal communications with students. Assess and evaluate students work and provide final course grades in accordance with university and department practices.
