Job Title: IT Support Specialist (Scientific Computing) Location: Tallahassee, FL Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Full-Time Job ID: 61727 Department Department of Scientific Computing | Florida State University College of Arts & SciencesResponsibilities This position is responsible for providing technical support for department computers, printers, and classroom technology in the Department of Scientific Computing.In this role, you will be responsible for:Providing user-support of equipment throughout the department, including desktops, workstations, and the various labs. This support includes software installation and hardware maintenance.Maintaining and modifying VLAN assignments of port, network access control, and other security-related issues for network equipment.Mentoring and training student workers assigned to system administration tasks. Assisting in the operational management of the computing facilities in the department.Assisting in the development of new or improved instructional and research technologies.Qualifications Bachelor's degree or a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience. (Note: or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to four years.)Preferred Qualifications An individual who is flexible, adapts easily to the needs of multiple stakeholders communicates effectively, is detail-oriented, enjoys problem-solving, and can organize tasks and meet deadlines.
