DescriptionThe Office of Enrollment Research and Innovation at the University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK) invites applications and nominations for our IT Technician position. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidates qualifications and experience.ResponsibilitiesThe IT Technician provides front-line technological support and assists with implementation testing and maintenance of technology solutions across the Division of Enrollment Management (EM). Reporting to the Associate Director of Innovation and The IT Technician provides front-line technological support and assists with implementation testing and maintenance of technology solutions across the Division of Enrollment Management (EM). Reporting to the Associate Director of Innovation and Technology and working closely with the Senior IT Technologist II this role supports all EM staff in having reliable innovative and secure access to technology resources. This position serves as a main divisional contact for hardware software and account-related support and solutions. Other work includes but is not limited to creating managing and updating documentation troubleshooting inventory management proactive problem solving and solutions and innovation and technology research to enhance and grow divisional support and tools. We are looking for a proactive and self-motivated individual who understands technical acumen and has soft skills that foster excellence and customer-centric support. We are looking for a proactive and self-motivated individual who understands technical acumen and has soft skills that foster excellence and customer-centric supportQualificationsRequired Education and Experience:High School Diploma and Vocational or Technical Training- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with computer systems and technology including applicable internships and related experience. 1 years of experience in customer service related field.Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Maintain current knowledge of computer hardware operating systems and standard university applications. Skill in troubleshooting problem-solving and providing user-centered customer service. Ability to absorb and retain information quickly. Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Create follow and improve on documented procedures. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced service-oriented environment. Knowledge of or ability to learn divisional systems (e.g. Banner Argos OnBase TouchNet and Microsoft 365 suite). Physical ability to set up install and maintain computer systems and peripherals.Preferred Education and Experience:Associates degree in computer information science information technology computer science computer networking or related IT field. 3 years of experience providing IT support in a higher education or large organizational setting; ORBachelors degree in computer information science information technology computer science computer networking or related IT field. 1 year of experience providing IT support in a higher education or large organizational setting.Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of higher education environments and student service systems. Familiarity with university IT policies data security practices and support ticketing systems (e.g. TeamDynamix RingCentral). Experience contributing to IT documentation and testing plans.
