Salary Range Starting at: $12.50/per hour
Job Objective:
As the Janitor you will provide cleaning services for the corps; assist with receiving shipments of supplies; to provide outside maintenance. The Custodian performs routine and general cleaning, maintaining assigned area(s) to meet staff, clients, and customer satisfaction…ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.
What You Will Do:
* Complete daily cleaning duties as assigned.
* Clean and dust all horizontal and vertical surfaces including windows, doors, desks, shelves, intake vents, tables, chairs, and cabinets.
* Maintain clean carpets by detailed vacuuming, spot removal, and shampooing.
* Perform hard surface care for tile, concrete, tabletops, drinking fountains, and counters including buffing, sweeping, washing, polishing, spot removal, and disinfecting.
* Perform spot cleaning for walls, light switches, and doors as needed.
* Ensure cleanliness of kitchen counters, sinks, appliances, and floors
* Empty trash and recycle receptacles; replace liners as needed.
* Monitor and report maintenance repairs,
* Coordinate maintenance bids as needed.
* Organize cleaning supplies.
* Assist with building repairs as needed, such as painting, moving furniture, or plumbing.
* Drive to pick up food donations as needed.
* Assist with setting up and tearing down the chapel as needed for different activities.
* Assist with all aspects of the Christmas efforts, Kettles, Toy Shop, etc.
* Preform outside maintenance as needed.
* Other tasks as assigned by leadership.
Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education: High School Diploma Required
Background Checks: This position will require a background check to be completed and all background check results will be reviewed.
Experience: Janitorial/Maintenance experience (preferred)
Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.
Skills/Abilities:
* Able to speak, write, and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
* Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.
* Knowledge of cleaning supplies and use of chemicals.
Supervisory Responsibility: Supervise Volunteers and groups as needed.

Physical Requirements Include:
* Able to twist, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, climb stairs, and stand for extended periods occasionally.
* Able to lift up to 50lbs.
* Able to reach and stoop to stock shelves.
* Good speaking, hearing, and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
Travel: As needed, must have a valid Driver's License
Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office, church, or outside environment; may require some evenings and weekends as needed.
