The Cost Accountant II is also responsible for coordinating and conducting cycle counts and annual physical counts within the plant guiding the cost analysis process and building and controlling the plants annual budget.What Youll Do: Plan analyze and communicate the profitability of the plants manufacturing operations to produce informative detailed reports outlining efficiencies plant production and key financial information for management reviewExamine the plants production costs gain/loss and month-end closing dataIndependently collect and analyze operational dataComplete monthly cost analysis of controllable expense accounts and material cost variance accounts.Forecast analyze and report the plant performance to leadership teamsGain understanding and explain and reconcile manufacturing financial variances for the plantPrepare month-end close activities including adjusting journal entries and accruals closing production work orders settling utility payments and balance sheet reconciliations.Identify resources and solutions to control or eliminate gaps to plan and/or plant performance goalsParticipate in daily/weekly plant meetings to explain the results of analysis and identified solutionsDrive accounting processes within the plant to ensure accurate books and records and compliance to key control requirements including Sarbanes OxleyProvide support and documentation for monthly SOX controls interim SOX testing and audits from both Internal and External auditorsReconcile cycle counts and post adjustments approved by the Plant ControllerCoordinate data points and provide organized data to senior Cost Accountants or Controller for decision making process.Assist in building and managing the annual budget for the plantParticipate in the annual update of Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Production RoutingsRecognize problems and generate solutions/ideasBased on plant site size and complexity as well as need the Cost Accountant may also:Enter daily production into spreadsheets and SAPIdentify and resolve any production entry discrepancies or issuesEnter or scan raw material receiving receipt information and preparing for entry into SAPEnter raw material receiving data into SAPMaintain movement of inventory through the quality processManage movement of damaged and obsolete inventoryOwn oversight of MRB (Material Review Board) inventory including movements of all quality and non-quality productResearch and resolve purchasing invoice issuesCoordinate and conduct cycle counts and annual physical counts within the plantEnsure that the cycle count is completed efficiently and accurately and that all data has been entered properlyWhat Youll Bring: Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance preferredMinimum of one year experience in an accounting or finance role requiredManufacturing experience preferredCPA / CMA certification (or in process) a plusAbility to be tactical as well as see the bigger operational pictureDemonstrated knowledge of standard and cost accounting methodsAbility to synthesize complex and detailed data and information into meaningful outtakes and decision base informationAbility to offer solid solutions based on collected summarized and analyzed dataDemonstrated ability to effectively take action to solve problems while exhibiting sound judgementKnowledge of research methods and report preparationResults-oriented to ensure delivery of appropriate products and services in accurate complete and timely fashionDemonstrated moderate skills with the standard features MS Office and other proprietary softwareGood interpersonal and written/oral communication skills with the ability to communicate cost and financial information across the business.Demonstrated ability to identify problems and think independently about alternative ways to solve problems based on analysis of dataAbility to challenge information and uncover robust facts and data which improve insights and the quality of the final decisionDesire and tenacity to grow within the organization with consideration of relocation to other manufacturing facilities for opportunitiesWhat Youll Receive: At James Hardie we recognize that our success depends on our people.
