Director of Millwork - Houston TX Job ID # JOS2192 Starting base salary: $90-120K Summary The Director of Millwork is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the millwork scope across the companys projects ensuring that all millwork deliverables are executed with efficiency precision and the highest quality standards. Acting as a subcontractor to the mother construction company this role works hand-in-hand with our Project Managers on the general contractor side and operates under their direction to ensure seamless integration of millwork within the broader project. The Director of Millwork oversees production scheduling budgeting and installation activities while driving innovation process improvements and client satisfaction. This position manages up tpo 10 people and reports to the President and managing Partners. Responsibilities -Operational Oversight / Management Support company Project Managers by aligning millwork activities under their direction ensuring seamless coordination within the overall project. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance productivity and efficiency. Oversee the full millwork scope for all projects from material procurement to final product delivery. Ensure production schedules are achieved while maintaining quality standards. Lead mentor and develop millwork personnel subcontractors and vendors. Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and guidance. Promote a culture of safety quality and continuous improvement. -Project Estimating & Management Provide accurate estimates for millwork scopes on all projects. Address any issues or challenges that arise during the production or installation. Monitor project budgets control costs and ensure projects are delivered on time. Collaborate with project managers architects and designers to ensure millwork meets project specifications and timelines. -Quality Control / Safety & Compliance Establish and enforce quality control standards to ensure all products meet company and industry standards. Ensure all operations comply with health safety and environmental regulations. Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement. Conduct safety training and audits to maintain a safe workplace. Implement corrective actions to address any quality issues. -Budgeting and Financial Management Monitor financial performance and implement cost-saving measures. Prepare and provide regular reports to senior management on millwork progress and financials. Develop and manage the millwork departments budget including labor materials and overhead costs. -Innovation and Process Improvement Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement new technologies and methodologies. Lead initiatives to enhance product offerings and increase market competitiveness. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices. -Client Relations Support company Project Managers in maintaining strong client relationships specific to millwork scopes. Ensure client needs and expectations are met through communication and problem-solving address concerns promptly and professionally. -Resource Management Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure the availability of quality materials at competitive prices. Optimize the use of resources including labor materials and equipment. Manage inventory levels and ensure the timely procurement of materials. Requirements A minimum of 8 years of experience in millwork or related fields with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Strong understanding of millwork production processes materials and equipment with knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards. Proven experience in managing large-scale millwork projects from start to finish. Proficient in project management software and other relevant tools. Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
