Were the minds behind the mission-critical systems that keep our nation secure.Ready to engineer solutions that matterThe Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos is seeking a dynamic Journeyman Network Engineer to support cloud modernization initiatives for the United States Coast Guard (USCG) at Command Control Communication Computer Cyber and Intelligence Service Center (C5ISC) in the Alexandria VA area. This role is part of a high-impact program focused on delivering secure scalable cloud solutions that enable operational agility and resilience across the USCG enterprise.As a network engineer you will have experience designing securing and operating cloud-based network architecture with hands-on expertise in F5 Versa Networks SD-WAN and security solutions.. This role is essential to ensuring secure scalable and resilient connectivity across hybrid and multi-cloud environments. Youll work closely with cloud engineers cybersecurity analysts and program leadership to drive continuous improvement and deliver value to the mission.Primary TasksDesign implement and maintain secure cloud network architectures in AWS Azure and hybrid environmentsIntegrate cloud networks with on-premises DoD infrastructure using VPNs Direct Connect ExpressRoute and SD-WANImplement network segmentation Zero Trust principles and policy-based access controlsAutomate network provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and AnsibleMonitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues using tools like CloudWatch Azure Monitor and packet capture utilitiesEnsure compliance with DoD cybersecurity frameworks including DISA STIGs NIST 800-53 and RMFCollaborate with cybersecurity cloud engineering and application teams to support secure mission deliveryMaintain detailed network documentation diagrams and standard operating proceduresPromote continuous improvement through feedback loops and process refinementEnsure alignment with USCG mission priorities and Leidos delivery standardsBasic Qualifications:Bachelors degree in a related field (e.g. Computer Science Information Systems Business) & 4 years of experience in cloud network infrastructure roles.Hands-on experience with Versa Networks SD-WAN and security platformsExperience configuring and managing F5 BIG-IP LTM GTM and ASM modulesProficiency in AWS and/or Azure networking services (VPCs VNets Transit Gateway NSGs Route Tables)Strong understanding of TCP/IP BGP DNS NAT and VPN technologiesFamiliarity with Zero Trust Architecture and DoD cloud security requirementsScripting and automation experience (Python Bash PowerShell)Excellent facilitation communication and stakeholder engagement skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced mission-driven environmentCertifications such as Versa Certified SD-WAN Engineer F5-CTS AWS Advanced Networking or Azure Network Engineer AssociateMust be a U.S. Citizen and have a Public Trust and be able to obtain a SECRET clearanceRequire active DoD IAT Level II (i.e. Security) certification or equivalent prior to startPreferred Qualifications:Knowledge of ICAM integration and cross-domain solutionsPrior experience supporting DHS USCG or other federal cloud modernization effortsStrong documentation communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsExperience working with technical teams in cloud cybersecurity or enterprise IT environmentsIf youre looking for comfort keep scrolling.
