Job Summary
Godfrey Plumbing and Heating is a small family owned plumbing and hvac company located in Ironton, Mn.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman/Journeywoman Plumber to join our dynamic construction and maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems across some light commercial and mostly residential projects. Your expertise will ensure that plumbing installations meet safety standards, building codes, and client specifications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilize your technical skills, and contribute to high-quality construction and maintenance operations.
Duties
Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems including pipes, fixtures, and appliances on construction sites or in existing buildings.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to guide installation and repair work.
Use hand tools, power tools, pipe threading machines, and welding equipment to complete plumbing tasks efficiently.
Conduct pipe fitting, pipe threading, and welding to ensure secure connections in various construction projects.
Perform routine inspections of plumbing systems to identify issues related to leaks, blockages, or mechanical failures.
Assist with remodeling projects by replacing or upgrading existing plumbing infrastructure.
Maintain safety standards by adhering to OSHA regulations and ensuring proper use of personal protective equipment during all tasks.
Skills
Extensive experience with construction plumbing, including pipe installation, repair, and maintenance.
Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams related to plumbing systems.
Strong mechanical knowledge of HVAC systems and general building infrastructure.
Skilled in using hand tools such as wrenches, pipe cutters, pliers; power tools including drills and saws; welding equipment; and pipe threading machines.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining proper ergonomics.
Knowledge of construction site safety protocols and experience working on active construction sites.
Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting plumbing layouts.
Familiarity with carpentry techniques useful for remodeling or structural adjustments related to plumbing work.
Valid commercial driver's license preferred for transporting materials or equipment as needed.
Field service experience with troubleshooting and resolving plumbing issues efficiently on-site.
Understanding of schematics for HVAC systems or mechanical layouts is a plus.
