Title: Junior Environmental ScientistLocation: Southern California (remote)Job Type: Regular Full-timeWhats the OpportunityAnchor QEA is seeking a full-time junior level scientist primarily to support work in and near San Diego and Irvine California. The successful candidate will have a natural affinity for science have the capacity to grow be a quick learner be detail-orientated be a committed team player possess strong written and verbal communication skills and be experienced with working in the marine environment. This position will support environmental science planning and engineering projects involving short and long-term monitoring programs for water sediment and biological resource quality; contaminated sediment and dredged material evaluations; stormwater monitoring; and source control investigations.Responsibilities:Responsibilities for the position will include the following:Maintenance and calibration of field equipment and instrumentation.Maintenance of vehicles and vesselsOrganization of field sampling supplies and warehouse spaceField sampling and analysis at upland and in-water project sites which may include water quality monitoring sediment and soil sampling and marine mammal monitoringCompilation and management of environmental dataQualitative and quantitative analysis of environmental dataTechnical writing to support the preparation of sampling and analysis plans data deliverables and monitoring reportsWhat Are We Looking ForIdeal candidates will have the following:BS or MS degree in relevant field (e.g. environmental science biology geology)0-3 years of related experienceSelf-starter with ability to work independently or collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary teamProficiency using Microsoft Office applicationsCritical thinking and strong problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsReliable transportation and ability to commute to project locations in and near San Diego and Irvine CaliforniaStrong commitment to health and safety and technical excellenceCPR First Aid AED and OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certifications required; will be provided by Anchor QEA if these certifications have not been obtainedSmall boat handling skills including trailering launching and retrieval are a plusWillingness to travel during temporary field assignmentsWhat Can You ExpectA collaborative work environment where we encourage everyone to bring their authentic self.
