As a Permanent Junior Project Cost Estimator for LAUSD in the Construction industry, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our educational institutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity for those who are passionate about construction, cost estimation, and contributing to the educational landscape of Los Angeles. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a dynamic team, working on a variety of K-12 and LACCD projects.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications, and by performing quantity take-offs for all systems and components involved in the projects.
- Utilize your expertise in DSA, K-12, LACCD, CHPS to provide accurate project cost forecasts.
- Collaborate with a team of architects, engineers, and project managers to develop cost strategies, identify potential problems, and propose solutions.
- Review design documents for completeness and adherence to LAUSD cost estimation standards and guidelines.
- Work closely with project managers to monitor project costs, providing regular updates and adjustments as necessary.
- Participate in the bidding process, including the preparation of bid documents, analysis of bid proposals, and recommendation of contractors.
- Conduct value engineering and life cycle costing as part of the cost estimation process.
- Maintain current knowledge of construction costs, trends, and market conditions, and apply this knowledge to current and future projects.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on cost estimation.
- Proven experience with DSA, K-12, LACCD, CHPS projects.
- A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, systems, and processes.
- Proficient in the use of cost estimation software and tools.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
- Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or equivalent certification is a plus.
