Please read the Minimum Requirements thoroughly and then demonstrate that you meet these requirements on your application.For questions regarding this posting please contact Sherry Christman Human Resources Analyst at or .Equal Employment Opportunities It is the policy of Northampton County to provide equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all persons regardless of race color national origin religion sexual orientation marital status sex gender identity gender expression age genetic information disability or any other status protected by the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and any other state federal or local law.Job DescriptionGENERAL PURPOSEThe Assistant Supervisor position is responsible for the direct oversight and continued training/mentoring of the Youth Care Workers while providing assistance in completing Supervisory tasks.SUPERVISION RECEIVEDThis position reports directly to the Juvenile Justice Center Supervisor and/or higher-level official in the Juvenile Justice Center.SUPERVISION EXERCISEDThis position is responsible for the supervision of the following classification: Youth Care Workers.ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITIONProvides oversight to the Youth Care Workers during their shift to ensure that safety and security is properly maintained throughout the facility for residents and staff in the County Juvenile Justice Center.Provides supervision structure and various expectations of the Youth Care Workers throughout their daily routines and interactions with the residents.Communicates with Supervisory team to discuss issuesconcerns observed on the floor.Aids in the growth of new Youth Care Workers by scheduling trainings in conjunction with the Supervisory Team and Training Coordinator to alleviate potential safety and security risks that may arise.Plans and establishes schedules and placement of Youth Care Workers as well as ensuring staff participates in resident activities including but not limited to instructional or recreational activities.Reviews all documentation associated with intakes and releases to ensure compliance with OCYF 3800 regulations.Completes the OCYF Regulatory 3800 Risk Assessments and reviews Health and Safety plans with the Supervisory team and/or higher-level officials.Administers medication to the residents in the facility.Responds to crises in the facility to observe Youth Care Workers and will physically intervene as needed as staff are deescalating the residents. May work with the Youth Care Worker to assist with individual processing with residents when necessary.Accompanies Youth Care Workers on transports with residents to other institutions clinics and foster homes to ensure that all medication and documentation are properly exchanged/handled.Assesses issues of difficulty or potential problems and provides reports recommending solutions to the Supervisory team or higher-level officials.Attends Individual Service Plan (ISP) Review of Individual Service Plan (RISP) and court review meetings with the Treatment Team to provide further insight into resident daily behavior.Reviews documents written by Youth Care Workers prior to final submission to the Supervisory team.Conducts file audits in all programs to ensure compliance with OCYF 3800 regulations.*An employee assigned to this title shall perform a majority but may not perform all of the duties listed in this job description. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar related or a logical assignment to the position.REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Completion of sixty (60) college credits at an accredited college or university is preferred;ANDAt least six (6) months of full-time or full-time equivalent direct work related experience is preferred but not required;OREQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE; ANDEmployees assigned to this title will be required to possess and maintain a valid and current motor vehicle drivers license with an acceptable driving record.KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of the responsibilities of the Youth Care Worker and Supervisory position in addition to facility policies.Possession of exceptional interpersonal skills in confrontational and hostile situations.Knowledge of the impact of trauma as it relates to attitudes of children and youth and social processes among them.Knowledge of the growth stages of children and youth including social emotional and mental development through the teenage years.Skilled in communication to effectively relay information between the Supervisory team Training Coordinator and the Administrative team.Ability to supervise the activities of the Youth Care Workers while they oversee the residents in custody ensuring their safety and security.Ability to use physical techniques to safely intervene with residents typically between the ages of 12 18 years of age.Ability to establish and maintain understanding and effective relationships with facility residents including juveniles with social and emotional problems.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with family members representatives of law enforcement and county agencies.Ability to maintain records prepare reports and review all documentation in accordance with OCYF 3800 regulations.Ability to read write speak understand and communicate in English to perform the duties of this position.Must be available to work shifts on a twenty-four (24) hour seven (7) days a week schedule.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENTTelephone or cell phone work computer (including word processing and job related software) calculator fax machine copy machine radio and handcuffs.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to walk sit talk or hear. While performing the duties of this job the employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred (100) pounds while providing physical intervention for a resident.
