This includes career exploration work readiness training opportunities to gain work experience occupational skills training and engaging local business to support these efforts.Position ResponsibilitiesKey ResponsibilitiesBrief Description of DutiesAdministration ProceduresThis is a remote position but travel is required within a 17-county northeast Kansas territory. This position is part-time - expected 20 hours/weekFacilitate work readiness training for youth ages 14-24Assist youth to create a plan to meet their individual employment goalsActively support youth to pursue employment through job leads resume development and mock interviewsCoordinate and promote opportunities for career exploration and hands-on learningOutreach to businesses and organizations to create opportunities for youth including paid work experienceMaintain and grow business relationshipsEstablish and monitor work experience sites that support youth goals and career interestsSupport youth and employer relationships to promote successful job placement and retentionCreate and distribute marketing materials to recruit employers and youth participantsKeep detailed records to document servicesAssists coordinator in assessing the effectiveness of the training component as well as satisfaction of the participants and employersWork as part of a support team for youth participants many experiencing barriers such as homelessnessEffectively collaborate with program staff and partners including the local workforce board Youth Housing Demonstration Project team and the local Youth Action Board (YAB)This position could develop into full-timePosition CompetenciesKey CompetenciesPerformance Standards/ResultsEffectiveCommunicationPresent information both clearly and concisely and regularly confirms correct interpretation of informationVery high standard of communication skills both written and oral for the presentation of facts and ideasWritten communication must be clear concise easy to read and comprehendOrganization of WorkDemonstrate the ability to handle several projects simultaneouslyImplement the key principles of time management task allocation and priority assignment in addition to personal organizationContinually seek ways to improve the service provided via development of professional skills and personal growthInitiate and respond to suggestions for improving serviceQualificationsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word Power Point and ExcelExperienceExperience providing social service supports to youth ages 14-24 coordinating and monitoring internships work experience job shadows and informational interviews experience supporting clients in workforce development programs and knowledge of Workforce Investment and Opportunity Act (WIOA).EducationBachelors degree in human services psychology counseling education social science communications or closely related field; or Associates degree in human services psychology counseling education social science communications or closely related field and two years related experience.Certificates Licenses RegistrationsValid State DriversLicense with acceptable driving recordPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
