Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Laboratory Associate to join our team. The Laboratory Associate will perform routine and specialized laboratory tests, maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards. This role is essential to supporting our mission of delivering accurate and timely diagnostic results. Key Responsibilities The Laboratory Associate will conduct a variety of laboratory tests and analyses according to established protocols and standard operating procedures. This includes preparing specimens for testing, operating laboratory equipment, and accurately documenting all results and observations. The position requires maintaining laboratory supplies and inventory, ensuring all materials are properly stored and readily available for daily operations. Quality control and compliance are critical aspects of this role. The Laboratory Associate will participate in quality assurance programs, perform routine calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments, and adhere to all safety protocols including OSHA, CLIA, and CAP regulations. The successful candidate will maintain detailed records of all testing procedures and results while ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. Collaboration with the laboratory team is essential. The Laboratory Associate will communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth workflow and accurate result reporting. The role also involves identifying and troubleshooting technical issues with equipment or procedures and escalating concerns when appropriate. Required Qualifications Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or related field Bachelor's degree preferred ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification preferred Minimum 1-2 years of laboratory experience (entry-level candidates with strong academic backgrounds will be considered) Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and regulatory requirements Proficiency with laboratory information systems (LIS) and Microsoft Office Suite Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Essential Skills and Competencies The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for documenting results and collaborating with team members. The ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a collaborative team is important. Strong organizational and time management skills enable the Laboratory Associate to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining quality standards. Basic mathematical and computer skills are required for data entry, calculations, and result reporting. Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. The Laboratory Associate must be able to lift and carry laboratory supplies and equipment up to 25 pounds. Manual dexterity is necessary for handling small instruments, specimens, and laboratory materials. The role involves potential exposure to biological hazards, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment. Work Environment The Laboratory Associate will work primarily in a laboratory setting with exposure to chemicals, biological specimens, and laboratory equipment. The position may require flexibility in scheduling, including occasional evening, weekend, or holiday shifts depending on operational needs.
