Job Description SummaryThe Dayton Cores and Castings (DCC) facility is a GE Aerospace manufacturing shop that makes HPT Airfoil Cores and Castings. We are a low-rate production shop that develops the leading edge of airfoil technology to deliver value through new product introduction and manufacturing industrialization. We are proud to have been awarded OSHASs highest safety rating.As the Metallurgical Laboratory Manager you will be responsible for leading day-to-day operations of the metallurgical and materials testing laboratory to ensure compliance with GE Aerospace quality standards customer requirements and regulatory/industry this role you will oversee laboratory personnel ensure accuracy and integrity of all metallurgical evaluations and support production Quality Engineering and Turbine Airfoils Value stream teams with a timely and reliable technical data. This role is in Beaver Creek Ohio just outside Dayton.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities:Lead and manage metallurgical lab technicians providing guidance workload management training and performance feedbackPlan and prioritize laboratory testing including microstructure evaluations SEM analysis failure analysis reports and other material characterization evaluation from Quality/Engineering/Casting Technology teamsEnsure compliance with GE Aerospace specification requirements and procedures industry standards (e.g. AS9100/ISO AS13100 NADCAP)Review and approve laboratory reports ensuring accuracy completeness analysis and traceability of testing evaluationsManage laboratory equipment ensuring calibration maintenance and readiness of metallographic equipment microscopes and other analytical instrumentsCoordinate metallurgical investigations to support Quality Engineering and ManufacturingMaintain traceability of samples current documentation test records and electronic data systems in accordance Quality Management Systems.Drive continuous improvement including 5S waste reduction and process optimization within the laboratorySupport audits (internal & external NADCAP AS9100 AS13100) to ensure corrective actions are implemented promptlyEnsure safety compliance including proper use of PPE chemical handling procedures and maintaining a safe laboratory environmentCollaborate with Quality Engineers Engineering operations and leadership providing materials and process insights failure analysis reports and technical recommendationsRequired QualificationsBachelors Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Metallurgical and/or Materials testing laboratories. Aerospace preferred)At least an additional 3 years of experience in Metallurgical and/or Materials testing laboratoriesDesired CharacteristicsPrior leadership or supervisory experienceAt least 5 years experience in Metallurgical or Materials testing laboratories (Aerospace preferred)Bachelors degree in Metallurgical Engineering Engineering Materials Science or related fieldExperience in Metallurgical materials properties heat treatment alloys and ceramic coresKnowledge in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAPKnowledge of AS9100 AS13100 and AS9102.Ability to analyze problems identify root causes and provide efficient and effective corrective actionsHumble: respectful receptive agile eager to learnTransparent: shares critical information speaks with candor contributesconstructivelyFocused: quick learner strategically prioritizes work committed Collaborative and strong communicatorProblem solver: analytical-minded challenges existing processes critical thinkerGE Aerospace offers comprehensive benefits and programs to support your health and along with programs like HealthAhead your physical emotional financial and social wellbeing.
