The position of Sorter is within Toxicology located at Gretna LA at Alere Toxicology this role the individual will be responsible for receiving and sorting specimens in accordance with the SAMHSA mandatory guidelines and those of other regulatory organizations. What Youll Work OnReceive and open specimens delivered to the laboratory for analysisSort specimens into bins and transfer to the departmentsProcess courier deliveries and store in designated areasInspect all trash bags once sorting process is completed to ensure sample and document removalMaintain cleanliness of the Warehouse Accessioning areaAssist with freezer cleanout and destruction of specimensReview and document acceptability of specimen and chain of custody formsAdhere to all security procedures for ensuring confidentiality of donor informationMust comply with company policyRequired QualificationsHigh School educationPreferred QualificationsBasic ability to use a computerBasic ability to understand laboratory technique and proceduresAdvanced ability to understand certification requirements for SAMSHA CAP-PUDT and other relevant regulatory bodiesBasic ability to understand the function of a Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other laboratory computer systemsPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift and/or move 50 poundsAbility to have full body movementWork EnvironmentClimate-controlled office and testing laboratory environmentMust be able to work in a refrigerated and 20-degree freezer area for storing and removing samplesMust be able to climb stairsMay be potential exposure to toxic or hazardous materialsLearn more about our health and wellness benefits which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives: Follow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
