JOB DESCRIPTION
Anderson Pacific is a Bay Area based General/Heavy Civil Engineering Contractor seeking an experienced journeyman laborer to work on projects with an emphasis on Water / Wastewater Treatment, wet utilities, and precision earthwork and paving in the Bay Area/Santa Cruz/Monterey areas.
Position Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in all phases of construction, including excavation, grading, concrete work, masonry, and carpentry.
- Measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line.
- Dig trenches and lay pipes, drainage systems, and utilities.
- Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alinement, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
- Levels earth to fine grade specifications, using pick and shovel.
- Mixes, concrete, using portable mixer.
- Smooths and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete, using float, trowel, or screed
- Positions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sections.
- Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
- Performs variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools, such as sawing lumber, dismantling forms, and removing items from concrete.
- Maintain inventory of company-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
- Comply, understand, and support corporate safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
- Perform physical manual labor tasks as required.
Compensation and Benefits Snapshot:

Pay Range: $36.50 - $38.45 per hour, full-time non-exempt position.
Requirements:
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a journeyman laborer.
- Must have own your own hand tools as required for trade.
- Reliable transportation to and from jobsite.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to work safely.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Perform tasks within standards of accuracy.
- Working as part of a dynamic team.
- Perform a variety of duties which may frequently change.
- Repeat tasks of short duration following a set procedure.
- Have working knowledge of heavy civil projects.
- Experience using hand and power tools of the trade.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
To successfully carry out the essential duties of this position, an employee must meet the physical requirements outlined here. The employee is frequently required to talk and listen while carrying out the responsibilities of this position. The worker frequently will stand, walk, climb up and down (ladders, scaffolds, and other objects), frequently lift and carry materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds. Good vision, with or without corrective lenses, are required to perform many job-related duties. In addition, having great depth perception, contract sensitivity, reaction times, and hand-eye coordination are important parts of being safe while working on construction sites with hazards and heavy machinery. Work environment includes busy construction sites where the employee will be exposed to weather conditions, moving vehicles, and large construction equipment. Must be safety focused.
