Job Description
Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as a part-time Laboratory Assistant in our Biology Department. Under general supervision the Laboratory Assistant supports faculty and students by preparing test specimens growth media and chemical solutions for use in biology and related science labs. The role includes setting up laboratory equipment monitoring its proper operation and reporting any deficiencies to the supervisor. Additional responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining lab facilities breaking down and storing supplies and equipment after exercises and ensuring compliance with all recommended safety practices. This position is part-time/non-exempt.Key Responsibilities:Assist faculty with classroom instruction and adherence to safety proceduresProvide tutoring support to students as neededPrepare and set up laboratory equipment and materialsClean and maintain laboratory spaces and equipmentPerform other job-related duties as assignedCore CompetenciesStrong research and problem-solving skills for technical issuesAbility to quickly learn new software and hardware applicationsEffective time management and organizational skillsCommitment to quality standards and safety practicesExcellent customer service orientationStrong oral and written communication skillsMinimum QualificationsApplicants must have successfully completed at least one of the following course sequences earning a minimum grade of B in the laboratory portion:Anatomy & Physiology I (Lecture/Lab) Anatomy & Physiology II (Lecture/Lab)Microbiology (Lecture/Lab)Chemistry I (Lecture/Lab) Chemistry II (Lecture/Lab)Biology 1111 and 1112 (Lecture and Lab)Salary/BenefitsThe salary range is commensurate with education and experience.
