Job Description
DescriptionThe Landscape Services Equipment Mechanic position is responsible for maintaining all of Landscape Services equipment including the various diesel and gasoline heavy equipment including preventative maintenance and emergency repair. This position will be in charge of updating information and entering new equipment within our computer system. This position is also responsible for maintaining an inventory of parts and supplies needed by Landscape Services.ResponsibilitiesPerform preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on Landscape Grounds Turf care and a diverse array of diesel and gasoline heavy equipment including but not limited to: Gasoline Combustion engines (1-25 hp)Two cycle power equipment (line trimmers back pack blowers etc.)Electric robotic mowersDiesel large volume debris/leaf vacDiesel farm tractorsSpecialty turf equipment (Reel mowers sprayers aerators etc.)Diesel Heavy Equipment Machinery (Excavators telehandlers dump trucks skid steers etc. up to 100hp)Check in new equipment and monitor warranty periodsHandle all asset parts and safety equipment inventory management using a computer software. (ex: Computerized Maintenance Management Software; CMMS)Order any and all replacement parts needed for repairsOperate grounds equipment as required for troubleshooting and diagnostic purposes.QualificationsRequired QualificationsEducation: High school diploma or GEDVocational or Technical training: Two-year Mechanics Degree/CertificateExperience: Two (2) or more years of experience working on grounds equipmentKnowledge Skills Abilities:The ability to perform hard physical work for longs periods in all kinds of weatherThe ability to read and follow instructionsThe ability to maintain diagnose and repair commercial riding mowers walk behind mowers skid steers mini-excavators wood chippers utility vehicles push mowers line trimmers blowers chain saws etc.The ability to operate/learn computer soft for new equipment check in work request review and inventory management.Skills and ability to interpret electrical schematics for diagnostic purposesSkills and ability to interpret hydraulic schematics for diagnostic purposesOther Conditions:Valid Drivers licenseWork LocationUniversity of Tennessee Knoxville TN CampusThis is an on-site positionCompensation and BenefitsUT market range: MR05Find more information on the UT Market Range structurehereFind more information on UT BenefitshereAbout the DepartmentUT Facilities Services is responsible for the care and keeping of more than 300 facilities and utilities systems in and around Knoxville. As the University of Tennessee Knoxvilles largest non-academic department team members are responsible for facilities maintenance and repair custodial needs landscaping and lawncare utility work in-house and capital construction projects facilities planning and design environmental initiatives pest control campus event services and facilities administration functions for both the flagship campus and the agricultural institute. The Facilities Services staff provides around-the-clock coverage to ensure students staff faculty and fans have a consistent and positive experience every time they step foot on Rocky Top.
