JOB DESCRIPTION
Lathe Machinist
We are seeking an experienced Lathe Turning Machinist who excels in operating and setting up CNC lathes. This role is perfect for a self-sufficient machinist who can confidently run parts, understand programs, and maintain quality standards with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC lathes in a production environment.
- Utilize and understand programming, including editing, troubleshooting, and running jobs.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to inspect parts and ensure quality and tolerance requirements are met.
- Use common measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Load and work with fixtures and tooling.
- Operate independently with minimal assistance.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Essential Skills
- 5 years of Lathe Turning machining experience.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and measuring parts.
- Familiarity with fixtures and the ability to operate independently.
- Experience with CNC lathe machines and programming.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with specific machines like Mazak and Mazatrol.
- Skill in using tools such as drill press and shear.

Work Environment
All positions are on 10-hour shifts with every other Saturday scheduled. Day shifts run from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and night shifts from 3:15 PM to 1:45 AM. The night shift may be more operator-focused, but programming experience is highly valued. The work environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brighton, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $31.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
