Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:This position is for the Corewell Health GROC location, located at 275 Michigan St NE, Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49503. This location requires highly qualified Health & Wellness Specialists, therefore it is required that candidates are either currently pursuing a health and wellness related degree, hold a health and wellness related degree, and/or have an active Personal Training certification.POSITION SUMMARY:The Health & Wellness Specialist provides fitness equipment orientations, promotes YMCA health and wellness services, maintains and cleans equipment, and enforces recreation guidelines. This position may involve early morning, evening, and/or weekend availability depending on program needs.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSDemonstrates proper equipment use and exercise formMonitors member activities on the fitness equipment, indoor track, gym floor and locker rooms.Maintains all areas in clean, presentable fashionProvides outstanding member serviceGive tours to prospective membersHandles member complaintsStays current with advances in the health and wellness fieldSets up equipment for group exercise and various sports activities.Enforces YMCA member guidelines.Performs any other functions deemed necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand RapidsCOMPENSATION$14.35 - $17.93 ; Part Time; Non Exempt (up to 25hrs/week)BENEFITS:Free YMCA Individual Membership – Enjoy full access to facilities & program discounts.Retirement Savings – 12% employer retirement contribution, no match requirement (upon eligibility) and a 403(b) savings plan. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Ability to actively take part and lead fitness activities. Working knowledge of computers and experience with a variety of software applications.
