Job DescriptionThe TeamOur team develops and delivers world-class vehicle dynamics performance to our customers through innovative chassis controls features on the exciting vehicles that will define the next generation of GMs future.The RoleA Lead Calibration Engineer is responsible for coordinating and managing all calibration development activity for a given project or family of projects. This Engineer will ensure that performance expectations are met requirements are developed and understood and SW / calibration deliverables are on time & on spec. The ideal candidate for this role will have a proven track record of successful product launches in the chassis controls field calibration experience in a complex technology in-depth knowledge of chassis controls and vehicle dynamics demonstrated leadership planning communication teamwork and prioritization skills.Lead Calibration Engineers are expected to work cross-functionally with other groups and champion the resolution of system / vehicle-level performance issues. Current development activities are focused on the latest Cadillac Chevrolet and Buick EV programs the Cruise Origin autonomous vehicle Performance vehicles and other upcoming EV projects.Job DescriptionChampion the safety of GMs employees and customersDevelop calibration strategy and execution plans for each programProvide technical direction to a team of chassis feature calibration engineersLead the delivery of on-time and defect-free calibration releases to program Controls Development / VeSCoM timing planRepresent calibration team before program and technical leadershipMaintain a close working relationship with program leadershipIdentify resource needs (people facilities vehicles equipment)Create and manage feature assignments and calibration responsibility map in CRETAConduct calibration reviews to ensure high quality calibrationsManage vehicle development property usagePlan and execute off-site calibration test tripsAssist calibration engineers as needed with issue resolutionMentor calibration engineers and technical specialistsSpearhead the resolution of vehicle system and controls deficienciesSupport resolution of vehicle plant durability/lab or customer issuesGenerate requests for software changes new features/functions and safety improvementsUtilize Problem Resolution Tracking System (PRTS)Adhere to all safety and regulatory requirementsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor of Engineering degree5 years of experience in Chassis Controls calibration vehicle dynamics performance driving vehicle integration5 years of Project Management / Project Leadership experience in the Chassis Controls domainDemonstrated ability to lead the integration of complex controls featuresExperienced in data acquisition and analysis calibration and validation processesAbility to analyze objective and subjective technical data and efficiently derive required changes to meet vehicle performance targetsSolid understanding of SW development and release processes (V-Model)Demonstrated initiative to drive for results in areas of innovation and new developmentQuick learner able to handle multiple projects as well as planned and unplanned workHigh level of oral and written communication skillsHigh level of interpersonal and collaboration skills across multiple disciplinesPossess a valid drivers license and ability to obtain GM Level 3 driving certificationAbility to travel for winter testing activities in January / February as neededAbility to travel for development & ride trips interspersed throughout the yearPreferred Qualifications:Knowledgeable in vehicle dynamics & subjective vehicle evaluationExperience with controls / algorithm developmentCurrent GM Level 3 driver or higherPerformance driving or Off-Road driving enthusiastFirst-hand experience with GM calibration and development processesDemonstrated ability to successfully lead a team of engineersExperience and comfort interacting with senior leadersExperience working with global teams
