Lead Data Scientist Personal Banking and Wealth Analytics Vice President at PowerToFly
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Designs and manages vector databases (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone, or similar) to support semantic search and contextual memory in AI agents.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate AI agents into business processes, enhancing automation, decision-making, and user experience.
- Conducts advanced data analysis and visualization to extract actionable insights from structured and unstructured data sources.
- Stays current with emerging trends in generative AI, LLM orchestration, and agentic systems to continuously improve solution design.
- Develops complex data & analytical solutions using python, Pyspark, SQL to identify the compliance/regulation issues.
- Identifies the right data elements needed for the solution and able to distinguish the critical data element vs non-critical data element.
- Develops and implements AI-driven solutions using Python, PySpark, and LangChain, with a focus on retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures and agentic workflows.
- Leverages GCP Vertex AI, including Gemini models, to build scalable machine learning and generative AI applications.
- Conducts strategic data analysis, identifies insights and implications and make strategic recommendations, develops data displays that clearly communicate complex analysis.
- Mines and analyzes data from various banking platforms to drive optimization and improve data quality.
- Deliver analytics initiatives to address business problems with the ability to determine data required, assess time & effort required and establish a project plan.
- Consults with business clients to determine system functional specifications. Applies comprehensive understanding of how multiple areas collectively integrate to contribute towards achieving business objectives.
- Consults with users and clients to solve complex system issues/problems through in-depth evaluation of business processes, systems and industry standards; recommends solutions.
- Assists system change process from requirements through implementation; provides user and operational support of application to business users.
- Assists in the formulation and definition systems scope and objectives for complex projects through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry standards.
- Communicates with the business directly by ensuring the quality of work provided by self and others; impacts own team and closely related work teams.
- Considers the business implications of the application of technology to the current business environment; identifies and communicates risks and impacts.
- Communicate between business leaders and IT exhibiting sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills to exchange complex information.
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
- Performs other duties and functions as assigned.
Qualifications- 7-10 years experience in technology or data science area
- 6+ years in data science, machine learning, and AI system development preferred
- Experience using tools for statistical modeling of large data sets
- Strong proficiency in Python, PySpark, and LangChain, with a portfolio of projects involving RAG pipelines and agentic AI.
- Experience working with GCP Vertex AI, especially Gemini models, and deploying models in production environments preferred
- Familiarity with vector databases and their role in semantic search and memory for AI agents preferred
- Solid foundation in data analytics, including statistical modeling, data wrangling, and visualization.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge in data engineering and database concepts, able to identify right data elements needed for the solution.
- Financial services industry work experience preferred
- Experience designing and deploying solutions using Python, Pyspark, generative AI and/or agentic AI frameworks, with a deep understanding of modern data analytics pipelines preferred
- Ability to effectively use complex analytical, interpretive and problem solving techniques.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Methodical attention to detail
