At our core we are Advanced Energy powering the future together.POSITION SUMMARY: As a Lead Electrical Engineer in the Product Quality and Failure Analysis team you will use your skills to determine true root causes driving customer dissatisfaction for the returns of RF DC Generators Matching Networks and High Voltage products. These are the key product platforms in Advanced Energys Plasma Power Products side of the business. This position requires a high energy individual who will work collaboratively across functions and will drive corrective action into upstream and downstream teams. The Lead Engineer will understand what is driving the customer return rates and will drive to root cause(s) of these escapes to eliminate future risk and to reduce the cost of quality. This candidate will support driving process improvements automation and other infrastructure improvements. Global Service sites exist worldwide for customer returns to be diagnosed and repaired. Many failure analysis reports will be on units repaired in another region of the world. Collaborating and partnering with these resources will be necessary for success in this role.RESPONSIBILITIES:Drives cost of quality reductions by managing failure categories and working with cross-functional teams to improve the product and reduce uncorrected failure modesMust be able to work in tandem with cross-functional teams to understand issues and drive improvement Must be able to understand end-to-end product life cycle and where to drive improvements in product analysis process etc. Must be able to present to executive management key metrics and product improvements to support customer quality initiatives and expectations Must be agile and willing to drive change in product process system and tools Must be willing to learn Jira and support new initiatives RMA review of warranty failures and non-failures in effort to have accurate up to date field quality reportingCollaborating with Operations resources on how best to eliminate identified risks to field escapesCreation of 8D teams to best resolve problems identified.Identifies and documents the most probable Root Cause(s) of failures and driving corrective action in tandem with cross-functional teamsEnsures integrity of failure data including conditions symptoms and failure modesIdentifies trends in failures and provides quantitative analysis of such trendsWorks independently to support multiple teams and mentors others in investigation techniques and historical trendsPossesses a thorough knowledge of products and applicationsDrives improvements in corporate functional capabilitiesPrepares complete concise Failure Analysis reports for internal and external customer communications in a timely mannerMaintains turnaround time and FA aging metricsMust be able to work with Engineering on product improvements High level failure analysis report writing in a timely mannerWORK ENVIRONMENT:This position is an in-person role based in the Fort Collins Colorado office.Mix of a standard office environment utilizing standard office equipment engineering lab and/or clean room 90% of the time.QUALIFICATIONS:Excellent decision maker and problem solverWell-organized with the ability to multitask and great attention to detail.Proficient knowledge and troubleshooting skills in electronic circuits components PCBs and manufacturing processes. Able to work through the division of hardware and firmware/software interactions. Requires effective verbal and written communication skills to interface throughout all levels and functionsWorking knowledge of Quality focused skills is desirableManage time and priorities effectivelySix Sigma Black Belt training is preferredEXPERIENCE:Experience in root cause analysis preferredMinimum of 8 years engineering experience or 6 with a Masters degree.EDUCATION:A Bachelors in electrical engineering is requiredMasters degree is preferred.COMPENSATION: As required by multiple state pay transparency laws Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including but not limited to skill set level of experience and specific office location.
