Lead Merchant Sales Consultant (MSC)
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Merchant Sales Consultant (MSC) to drive revenue by boarding new Franchise and Associations referral relationships while facilitating growth in the existing partner portfolio.
This is a strategic sales position responsible for new business development of third-party referral relationships in the Franchise and Association space. This position is responsible for meeting relationship boarding goals through consultative selling, leading the entire sales process from start to finish, cultivating strong bank partnerships to increase lead flow and to promote and build Franchise and Association brand awareness. You will also be responsible for managing an existing portfolio of referral partners and their YOY growth. Delivers key messages to complex and broad audiences, which includes external C-Level client executives, and internal senior leadership. Actively shares knowledge and market experience with peers and can operate well within collective success team environment.
In this role, you will:
- Lead complex sales initiatives including the sourcing, negotiating, and boarding of new Franchise and Associations referral partners.
- Drive business development activities through effective prospecting, networking, and sales skills with prospective referral partners.
- Collaborate with existing partners, peers, colleagues, and leadership to resolve issues and achieve sales goals.
- Partner with marketing and Franchise and Associations central sales team to drive unit growth within each managed relationship.
- Act as an advisor to senior leadership to develop or influence highly complex initiatives, including those that are cross functional with broad impact.
- Make decisions in complex and multi-faceted situations requiring a solid understanding of Business to Business (B2B) Sales functional area, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that influence and lead a broader work team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives.
- Serve as a formal mentor to junior sales talent on the team and help upskill the team by sharing subject matter expertise to drive organic sales growth.
- Represent the Wells Fargo brand in market by speaking at industry events, conferences, and other large-scale events that drive business development.
- Demonstrated ability to grow and expand relationships with Fortune 1000 caliber clients and experience and comfort level working with C-suite level client stakeholders.
- Expertise in building business cases for new market opportunities, including strategy development, market segmentation, competitive analysis, and financial analysis.
- Demonstrate leadership by influencing stakeholders, driving strategic initiatives, and fostering long-term partnerships that deliver sustainable business growth and exceptional client outcomes.
Required Qualifications, US:
- 5+ years of Merchant Sales experience and/or strategic partnership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in Merchant Services, Payment Processing and/or Strategic Partnerships.
- Proven success acquiring and growing new client and partner relationships, with a consistent record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals.
- Experience working with organizations generating $50MM+ in annual revenue and navigating complex stakeholder environments.
- Ability to manage the full sales and onboarding lifecycle, from prospecting and contract negotiation through implementation and relationship management.
- Strong partnership development skills, with a collaborative approach to driving business alongside internal bank partners and cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrated success identifying client needs, delivering tailored payment solutions, and expanding existing relationships to drive long-term revenue growth.
- Solid understanding of merchant services, payment processing, interchange, payment architecture, and merchant risk considerations.
- Strong consultative selling, relationship management, negotiation, and executive communication skills.

Pay Range:
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$119,000.00 - $224,000.00
