Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSummaryAbout New Hope for FamiliesNew Hope for Families provides shelter and early learning programs that keep families together and lift children into a promising future.The New Hope Early Learning Center enrolls up to 54 children across our 4 classrooms. We provide child-centered care, focus on Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP), and use an innovative continuity of care model that creates secure, thriving relationships between our teachers and children. In addition, we pursue the highest standards of excellence, attaining level 4 Paths to Quality and national accreditation. Best of all, we reserve half of our enrollment spots in each classroom for families who need it most-- families who have experienced homelessness. We can’t provide top quality childcare without an outstanding staff, and we are looking for someone with the right skills and experience to join our them.About the JobThe PreK Co-Lead joins a team of 1 other lead teacher and two assistant teachers (AM and PM) to provide care and early learning to 20 children ages 3-5. The leads work together to develop curriculum, structure the classroom, and build strong relationships with our students. In addition, they provide guidance to their assistant teacher and volunteers who might join the class for activities or meals.The Pre-K Co-Lead builds strong relationships with parents and families through our childcare app, Brightwheel, parent-teacher conferences, and through simple conversations at pick-up and drop-off.The Pre-K Co-Lead has a strong understanding of Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP), takes a child-centered approach to teaching, uses positive redirection, and can work well with other teachers. In addition, the best candidate is ready to join our classrooms’ Whole-Child Development approach, including using Trauma-Informed Care practices. The school opens for drop-off at 8:00 AM, and parents can pick up as late as 5:30 PM. The Co-leads share 8-hour shifts to cover opening or closing, typically beginning at 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM. Co-Leads receive one hour paid lunch per day and can expect a minimum of two hours per week of prep time, often more.DutiesDuties include:Opening or closing classroomDevelop lesson plans in collaboration with co-leadImplement lesson plans as a team, including assistantsClassroom management, including guiding assistants to what is needed in the roomPositive approaches with children in all aspects of learningCleaning: including but not limited to: sweeping, mopping, sanitizing toys, laundryTraining: remain up to date on required state trainingsParticipate in staff meetings before/after school hoursRequirementsRequired Qualifications-Child Development Associate’s or higher degree in Early Learning-Must be willing to undergo CPR and first aid training-Must be willing to undergo criminal background check and drug screen-Must be willing to undergo a physical and TB testNice To HavesPreferred Qualifications-Two years of teaching experience in a state-licensed center-Strong understanding of DAP, and Whole-Child approach to teaching-Collaborative team player-Understanding of Paths to Quality standards-Willing to give and receive feedback to/from coworkersBenefitsBenefits:Health InsuranceDental and Vision insuranceLife InsuranceRetirement account with match from employerEmployee childcare discountPaid time offParental leaveProfessional developmentAbout UsNew Hope for Families provides shelter and early learning programs that keep families together and lift children into a promising future. Our Early Learning Center has four classrooms, Infants, Ones, Twos and a PreK. We can enroll up to forty-eight children and half of our enrollment is reserved for children who have experienced homelessness. The New Hope ELC is a Paths To Quality Level 3 school, and is pursuing Level 4and national accreditation.
