Job Description
Position Title: Lead Security OfficerLocation: Icy Strait Point, Hoonah, Alaska
Reports To: Security Manager Category: Seasonal Non-Exempt
Salary Range: (DOE) Position SummaryThe Lead Security Officer oversees assigned security staff and ensures a safe, compliant, and welcoming environment for guests, employees, and partners at Icy Strait Point. This role provides on-the-ground leadership, supports daily security operations, and reinforces professional standards, compliance requirements, and a positive work environment. The Lead Security Officer serves as a visible presence throughout the property and works extended shifts in an outdoor, high-volume cruise port setting. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead and oversee assigned security officers during scheduled shifts.Ensure compliance with company policies, port security requirements, and operational procedures.Serve as a point of contact for security-related issues, incidents, and escalations.Promote a positive, respectful, and professional work environment among the security team.Monitor guest and employee activity to ensure safety and appropriate conduct.Complete incident reports, shift logs, and other required documentation accurately and timely.Coordinate with operations, marine staff, and leadership as needed.Provide on-the-job guidance, coaching, and support to security staff.Maintain a visible presence through walking patrols or stationary posts as assigned.Other duties as assigned to support safe and efficient operations. Physical Requirements & Work EnvironmentAbility to stand for extended periods, including remaining in one location for an entire shift.Ability to walk up to 3 miles per day across varied terrain.Ability to work long shifts with limited or delayed breaks at times.Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions, including rain, wind, and cold.Exposure to crowds, noise, and a fast-paced tourism environment. QualificationsPrevious security or supervisory experience preferred.Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.Ability to remain professional, calm, and observant in high-traffic environments.Ability to enforce policies consistently and fairly.Must be eligible for and obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card within 30 days of hire.FSO Certification preferred.Ability to pass background and pre-employment screening requirements.
