Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSummaryWe are seeking qualified candidates for (3) Lead Teacher positions. These positions are for classes serving children aged 12 months to 2 1/2 years of age. Our hours of operation are 7:30 am - 6:00 pm. Lead Teachers typically work the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.These are permanent positions as we try to expand our team of top-notch early childhood educators. In this role, you will use your knowledge in early childhood education and your passion for teaching to create an inviting and happy environment where each child can learn and grow. Your experience in using a developmentally appropriate curriculum will serve to prepare children for a smooth transition to their next class. Your positive disposition and genuine love of children will assist the Bright Start team in educating, caring for, and learning from all of our kids each and every day! We are accredited by NECPA and are active with the Virginia Quality Birth to Five Program.DutiesAt Bright Start, a Lead Teacher is expected to have the following priorities: Children, Parents, and the Center. The Lead Teacher should always have the children in mind when making plans or decisions in the classroom. The Lead Teacher has to keep the parents informed of their child's daily activities. The responsibilities that we require for a Lead Teacher:Create a schedule for daily indoor and outdoor activities that incorporate fine and gross motor movements, as well as cognitive and social skills.Observe and evaluate each child for age-appropriate milestonesAttend to the children's basic needs (feeding, diapering, potty-training, and dressing)Observe and guide children's interactions to promote good social skillsUse all opportunities to interact with children to model language skills and increase vocabularyThrough continued observation and engaging with the children, the Lead can identify behavioral problems and strategize effectivelyWork with Teacher Assistants assigned to the class to carry out lesson plans as related to the overall curriculum, evaluations, and parental interactionsEnsure all Virginia licensing and Bright Start Learning Center policies and procedures are adhered to within the classroom assignedRequirementsMust be 18 years oldMust have at least 1 year experience as a Lead Teacher in a licensed daycare. centerMust have at least 3 years experience in child carMust have as a minimum high school diploma or equivalentMust have a CDA or a qualifying certificate in Early Childhood Edu.Must exhibit good communication skills through speaking, listening comprehension, and writingMust be able to perform all physical aspects of the position, including frequently moving around, bending, reaching, and lifting up-to 50 pounds at a timeMust have basic computer skills to access emails, utilize the internet, and compose Word documentsNice To HavesCPR/First AidChildcare trainingCDABenefits401(k)401(k) matchingDental insurance Employee discountHealth insuranceLife insurancePaid time offProfessional development assistanceReferral programVision insurance
