Job Description
OverviewThe Assistant Director provides leadership and operational support to ensure the effective daily management of The Learning Lighthouse. This position assists the Director of Education in overseeing staff performance curriculum implementation family engagement and compliance with state licensing and organizational standards. The Assistant Director plays an active role in maintaining a safe nurturing and high-quality learning environment while promoting The Salvation Armys mission and educational values.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the day-to-day operations of the childcare center ensuring compliance with licensing standards and internal policies.Work with the director in scheduling maintaining records managing communications and addressing parent inquiries.Monitor center supplies and supports inventory management.Collaborate with staff to plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities.Oversee classroom themes educational materials and seasonal decorations to enhance the learning environmentEnsure alignment with educational standards and the centers mission.Foster a positive respectful and team-oriented workplace culture.Promote clear communication and collaboration among staff.Assist with recruitment interviewing onboarding and training of new staff.Provide ongoing feedback mentorship and support to educators and aids.Support family engagement efforts through open communication parent meetings and events.Help create a welcoming environment for families and visitors.Uphold and promote the mission values and vision of The Learning Lighthouse and its role as a program of The Salvation Armys larger mission.Step in for the Director of Education when needed to ensure continuity of leadership.Coordinate with the Learning Zone Assistant Director for assistance with supervision needs including lunch breaks call-offs before-school care and other emergency needs when needed. Oversee the administration of food programs and ensure that CACFP and SFSP standards are being followed. Record monitor and assist with Learning Lighthouse tuition records and payments. Assist Learning Zone families to receive additional outside assistance by coordinating with Knox County agencies and community partners to help meet their families needs.QualificationsMINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEAssociate or bachelors degree in early childhood education Child Development or related field (preferred). Minimum of 2 years of experience in a licensed childcare setting; supervisory or leadership experience a plus.Strong organizational and communication skills.Creative flexible and proactive approach to problem-solving and curriculum planning.Ability to build positive relationships with children families and staff.Knowledge of state childcare licensing regulations.Required Experience:Director Key Skills Fiscal Management,Organizational skills,Fundraising,Communication skills,Management Experience,Teaching,Administrative Experience,Budgeting,Leadership Experience,Program Development,Supervising Experience,Attention to detail Employment Type : Full-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
