Job DescriptionJob Description Summary:Wentworth Institute of Technology invites applications for two full-time Lecturer positions in Foundational Mathematics within the School of Computing and Data Science beginning Fall 2026.About Wentworth and the School of Computing and Data Science:Wentworth is a university of opportunity recognized for providing a high return on investment for its graduates. Our mission is to empower inspire and innovate through experiential learning and a student-centered approach to education.The School of Computing and Data Science (SCDS) includes more than 30 full-time faculty who offer undergraduate majors in Applied Mathematics Applied Artificial Intelligence Computer Science Cybersecurity Data Science and Information Technology as well as graduate degrees in Computer Science Data Science and Cybersecurity.The SCDS has teaching and research strengths in artificial intelligence data science cybersecurity high-performance computing mobile and web application development stochastic processes dynamical systems financial mathematics graph theory algebra and modeling. Faculty in SCDS maintain strong collaborative relationships with colleagues in sciences humanities and electrical and computer engineering among other disciplines.Our faculty represents a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Collaboration is highly encouraged and supported and our School has no departmental boundaries. Many of our faculty bring significant industrial consulting entrepreneurial and project management experience contributing to a dynamic and applied academic environment.Minimum Requirements:M.S. in Mathematics Mathematics Education or related discipline.Demonstrated success and/or potential in teaching undergraduate foundational mathematics courses.Experience teaching a class as the instructor of record.Evidence of learner-centered and active learning instructional approaches.Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with a diverse community of faculty staff and students.Preferred Qualifications:Ph.D. in Mathematics Mathematics Education or related discipline.3 years experience teaching a class as the instructor of record.Application Instructions:Please submit the following materials to the Resume Attachment Section:1. Contact information for three professional references (candidates will be notified before the University contacts references).Review of applications will begin December 1 and continue until the positions are filled.Definition of Non-Regular Appointment Track (NRAT) Faculty A NRAT member is a faculty employee of the university not on regular-appointment track (Assistant Professor Associate Professor Professor). A NRAT faculty member is employed for a specific period of time. No existing regular appointment track faculty position shall be replaced by a NRAT faculty position. The ratio of NRAT faculty positions to regular appointment track faculty shall never exceed one (1) NRAT faculty for two (2) regular appointment track faculty. Lecturers Position OverviewLecturers complement the efforts and qualifications of regular appointment-track faculty and allow flexibility to address programmatic needs. The rank of lecturer may be assigned to faculty members who can provide effective instruction in areas that support the core pedagogical instruction provided by the faculty of the appointing academic unit.A lecturer may be reappointed to NRAT employment. After the first one-year appointment based on satisfactory fulfillment of expectations a lecturer may receive up to a three (3) year contract (1 2 or 3 year). After the first one-year appointment just cause shall apply to the lecturer and contract renewal shall be conditional upon satisfactory annual performance projected school needs and/or available resources. If a lecturer has served three (3) consecutive appointments as a lecturer they shall receive a renewable three-year contract.Key Responsibilities of LecturersTeach undergraduate first-year foundational mathematics courses including but not limited to Precalculus Calculus 1 and Calculus 2. The standard credit load is up to 16 credit hours per semester for the fall and spring semesters.Engage and support first-year students as they transition into the higher education learning community.Provide learning experiences aligned with a student-ready approach to foundational mathematics within a tightly coordinated setting.Attend and contribute to weekly course coordination meetings.Regularly use our Learning Management System to post course materials communicate with students and provide timely feedback to student work.Participate in programmatic continuous improvement initiatives.Communicate proactively with academic support advising and tutoring divisions as needed.Participate in early grading initiatives.Create and maintain course manuals as needed for accreditation purposes.Position Details:The position includes a comprehensive benefits package and a competitive salary. Benefits are described briefly HR: this time the university is unable to sponsor applicants for H-1B visas.It is expected that the salary range for this position is between $70000 and $84111. The low end of the pay range in all faculty searches is at the minimum salary for the rank per the collective bargaining agreement between Wentworth Institute of Technology and the Wentworth Faculty Federation Local 2403 AFT MA AFL-CIO (the Faculty Federation or Federation). The specific pay for this position will be determined by the University based on consideration of all relevant factors when and if it decides to extend an offer of employment. The range does not include any salary stipend from a named-professorship. Note that these are two semester equivalent salaries.This position comes with a 10% retirement contribution (no matching ) according to the current Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Wentworth Faculty Federation.Wentworth uses a three-semester per year schedule. The faculty contracts are for two semesters (fall and spring) with optional summer teaching which is paid on a prorated basis of the provided two-semester salary.
