PH 180-1: Skills for Success in Public HealthPosition: Lecturer - Academic YearSemester:Spring 2026Day/Time:Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.Modality:In-personCollege:College of Education Health and Human ServicesDepartment: Public HealthThe Department of Public Health at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Spring 2024 to teach PH 531: Community Engagement and Health Education. The course is a 3-unit class taught in the first 8 weeks of the semester.Course DescriptionThis course provides foundational skills and knowledge for academic and professional success in Public Health. It equips students with essential problem-solving and critical thinking skills required for application in academic and professional settings. It explores discipline-specific core concepts in Public Health career pathways for the major and resources available to Public Health majors on campus. It emphasizes cooperative learning project management professionalism effective communication information literacy and promotes intrapersonal and interpersonal skills to be used throughout the Public Health profession.Minimum qualifications:A Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH)Relevant experience working with college-level students or teaching in an institution of higher learning.Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with core faculty and colleagues on an ethnically and culturally diverse campus is required.Per the California State Universitys Out-of-State Employment Policy the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California.
