Lecturer/US Survey Course Coordinator/UF Online CoordinatorJob No: 536637Work Type: Full TimeLocation: Main Campus (Gainesville, FL)Categories: Education/Training/Instructional Design, HumanitiesDepartment: 16280000 - LS-HISTORYJob Description Classification Title: LecturerClassification Minimum Requirements: Applicants will have a Ph.D. in History or a related field by January 1, 2026.Job Description: The Department of History at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Artsand Sciences invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure-accruingposition in History and departmental United States survey course coordinator andUF Online coordinator, at the rank of Lecturer, working title Assistant InstructionalProfessor, beginning January 1, 2026.The successful candidate will contribute to the Department of History'sintellectual growth and innovative teaching methods, to the development andmanagement of the US history survey courses, and to the development andgrowth of undergraduate online learning opportunities. The area of teachingspecialization is open.Teaching responsibilities will include courses in History (open field), including thetwo-part survey of US History, as well as upper-division courses in thecandidate's geographic or thematic specialization. This position will typically beassigned five courses per year (3-2 or 2-3) along with the Coordinatorresponsibilities.US Survey Coordinator responsibilities will include: coordinating AMH 2010 andAMH 2020 offerings, onboarding new instructors, oversee functionality of Canvasshells, and ensuring that syllabuses are in compliance with state and universityrequirements.UF Online Coordinator responsibilities will include: designing and producing newonline courses; coordinating with the college and university to determine coursedemand; serve as liaison for online History majors transitioning to the residentialprogram, through the PaCE online program.The successful candidate will have the opportunity to benefit from the support,resources and activities of relevant programs on campus, including the AcademicAdvising Center, UF Online, and the Center for Instructional Technology andTraining.Applicants are encouraged to visit the departmental website(https://history.ufl.edu) to learn more about the Department of History.UF is the state's oldest, largest, and most comprehensive land grant universitywith an enrollment of over 50,000 students and was ranked the Number 1 publicuniversity in the United States by Wall Street Journal in its “2024 Best Collegesin the U.S.” report.
