From individual households to schools hospitals businesses and government agencies Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.Export Control Requirement:Due to applicable export control laws and regulations candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder) or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.To deliver on that mission Amazon is looking for talented candidates who combine superb technical research and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively.In this role youll join Amazon Leos Structural Integrity and Analysis team as a Liaison Engineer to innovate and solve engineering issues that arise during Amazon Leo production operations leading to every flight of our constellation of satellites. You will be working on the shop floor along side Manufacturing and Quality teams to develop engineering dispositions related to non-conformances. You will work hard have fun and make history! This Liaison Engineer must have Material Review Board (MRB) experience in aerospace programs and must be able to understand the balance between engineering judgment versus analysis rigor and when each is appropriate.Key job responsibilities- This position will work 2nd shift 4:00pm-2:00am 4 days a week back half Wednesday-Saturday- Review and disposition non-conformance events of the spacecraft and its ground support equipment that may occur in all phases of the Amazon Leo operations: procurement storage handling manufacturing assembly testing transportation final integration launch and orbital operations- Develop standard repairs rework procedures propose design for manufacturing (DFM) improvements improved processes and work instructions- Conduct root cause investigations and develop corrective actions- Document static dynamic and fatigue stress analyses when needed to support dispositions interpreting established structural analysis reports- Develop analysis methods to address common non-conformances- Work with Quality Manufacturing and Engineering experts to provide root cause failure analyses- Interact with internal customers external customers and suppliersA day in the lifeThis Liaison/MRB Engineer will be providing engineering support to resolve engineering issues that arise during manufacturing and assembly processes quality inspection and acceptance tests through the application of engineering and design principles consulting the engineering development teams as needed.About the teamThe Liaison Engineering team is part of the Amazon Leo Structural Integrity and Analysis teams (Structural Analysis Loads and Dynamics Materials and Processes and Reliability) that is ultimately responsible for Integrity of not only the spacecraft but all other commodities supporting the program inside and outside of the Mechanical Engineering group.- Bachelors degree in engineering field or equivalent experience;- 3 years of demonstrated experience in a Liaison Engineer / Material Review Board (MRB) role with aircraft spacecraft or launch vehicle structures- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production- Experience with the project management of technical projects- Strong fundamentals in engineering fundamentals (statics dynamics modal frequency response random vibration sine and acoustic analyses/tests)- Experience with formal root cause and correct action investigations- Experience with fatigue and fracture analyses- Knowledge of or experience with spacecraft technology and related primary secondary and tertiary structures- Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution System (MES)- Strong understanding or Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing- Strong understanding of ANSI Y14.5M-1994 (drawing interpretation)- Experience with Siemens Products (Teamcenter NX NX Nastran)Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status disability or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. The base pay for this position ranges from $105600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
