Job DescriptionJob DescriptionAbout Lawrence HallLawrence Hall is a Chicago-based nonprofit social services agency that provides therapeutic, wellness, and skill development services to youth, families, and neighborhoods affected by lasting trauma. We foster healing and growth through empowerment, respect, safety, and teamwork. Our Transitional and Independent Living Program empowers young adults ages 18 to 21 to successfully transition into adulthood by providing essential life skills that support independent living. In Transitional Living, youth live in shared residences and learn budgeting, employment, career planning, and apartment upkeep. In Independent Living, youth manage their own housing, utilities, and continue skill-building toward full independence.About the RoleAs a Life Skills Educator in our Transitional and Independent Living (TIL/IL) programs, you'll help youth aged 17½–21 gain essential life skills to successfully transition into adulthood. You will teach independent living, self-care, time management, and social skills, while fostering a supportive, affirming environment. Key ResponsibilitiesInstruct youth in home management: cleaning, nutrition, shopping, meal planning, and cookingSupport self-care: grooming, dress, social skills, and personal confidenceTeach time management and daily routinesTransport youth to community resources, schools, and appointmentsParticipate in staffing, treatment planning, and continuous quality improvement activitiesMaintain accurate documentation of behaviors and progressModel trauma-informed care and strength-based approachesSupport a culturally diverse environment and collaborate with team membersQualificationsMinimum 25 years oldBachelor's degree preferred, or High School diploma + 5 years related experienceAt least 1 year working with older youth in child welfare or residential settingsValid Illinois driver's license and ability to pass background checksStrong verbal, written, and computer skillsWork Schedule & Additional InformationWeekend, holiday, and flexible hours are required to cover site needs.
