Should incumbents work more than a total of 999 hours in a year the appointment may not continue beyond one year of service.Accountabilities:We provide training on site ESSENTIAL DUTIES:supervise the activities of swimmers by enforcing rules and regulationswarn swimmers of improper activities or hazardsrescue persons in distress or in danger of drowning when indicated and provide rescue breathing, CPR and First Aidnotify the NYS DOH of any accidents, rescues, or problems that have arisencheck all safety equipment is working properly on a daily basis, and report to the Aquatic Manager any equipment that is in need of repairsuccessfully and positively perform within work team dynamicsbe on time and capable of performing tasks within team dynamicssupervise all patrons in and around the pool areaAUXILIARY DUTIES:answer inquiries pertaining to the use of the poolmove lane lines as directeddirect all helpful suggestions from participants and others to direct supervisorattend scheduled in-service trainingmaintain attendance and activity record and complete required reportsprovide periodic supervision and custodial needs of locker roomsassist in cleaning and maintaining the pool and related areas and facilitiesProfessional Experience/ Qualifications:Requires knowledge of water hazards, lifesaving techniques and first aid, recognize hazardous situations, and adopt effective courses of actionRequires effective communication skills and the ability to engage positively with the publicRequires attentiveness to visual and audible cues for recognition and identification of swimmers in distress or in process of unsafe behaviorsRequires proficient swimming ability and the proper application of rescue and first-aid techniquesRequires current CPR/AED, First Aid & Lifeguard certifications – We provide training on siteLifeguarding with CPR/AED for professional rescuers and First Aid certification and/or beachfront certificationMust be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students within a university contextPhysical Requirements:Requires ability to frequently sit, kneel, stand, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects.Requisition Number:2025CW040PostingTemporary:YesWork Schedule:We’re currently looking for lifeguards to cover shifts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.Looking for more hours?
