We are located on 316 Nw 24th St. Our ideal candidate is self-driven, ambitious, and reliable.ResponsibilitiesSet up and stock stations with all necessary suppliesChop vegetables, prepare sauces and other food preparation.Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staffClean up station and take care of leftover foodStock inventoryQualificationsCooking experience or Back of the House experience preferredAble to meet all scheduling commitmentsAble to anticipate needs of others in the kitchen and proactively work to meet those needsStrong attention to detailWe are looking forward to reading your application.Job descriptionPosition SummaryYou will be responsible for preparing a variety of foods and assisting the Executive Chef and or Chefs with their daily tasks. Line cooks will perform duties such as final plate preparation including plating and garnishing of cooked items. Line Cooks are also required to prepare food to the exact specifications and set up of stations for menu.Essential FunctionsPrepares food items by cutting, chopping, mixing, and preparing saucesSets up and stocks food items and other necessary suppliesAble to coordinate food orders to ensure timely delivery to each tableMust be able to follow the recipe and presentation guidelinesEnsure all sanitation and safety guidelines are always followedSet up workstations with all required ingredients and equipmentEnsure food is stored and cooked at the correct temperature by regulating the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, fryers, roasters, and other kitchen equipment.Able to substitute for other cooks during emergencies or rush periodsTurn or stir foods to ensure even cookingComplies consistently with the restaurant’s standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, policies, and proceduresCook food items by grilling, frying, sauteing, and or by using other cooking methods to specified recipe standardsEnsure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock.Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment and work surfacesAble to prepare a variety of food and ensure safe use of all kitchen equipmentMaintain a clean work environment while complying with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage.Uses the Standard Recipe Card for preparing all products; does not rely on the memory of oneself or others.Performs inventory checks and completes food storage logs.Skills & AbilitiesPossess grill and/or sauté experienceMust be flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidaysEnthusiastic team player with excellent motivation and people skillsWork under pressure with a positive attitudeBe willing to take a food safety class or have a current food handlers’ certificateExcellent problem solving and communication skillsAccuracy and speed in executing tasksFamiliar with industry best practicesFollows directions and instructionsMust be able to stand for extended periods and push or lift 20 pounds or moreExcellent problem-solving skillsOne to two years’ experience as a line cook, restaurant cook or prep cookEducation:· High School Diploma or EquivalentExperience· Must have at least 6 months experience in a fast-paced restaurant with a high volumePreferred qualifications:Diploma, certificate, or degree in Culinary ArtsCurrently seeking a diploma, certificate, or degree in culinary artsCompetencies· Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.· Oral Communication - Ability to communicate effectively with others in a respectful manner· Problem Solving - Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.· Technical Aptitude - Ability to use a variety of kitchen appliances in a safe manner· Working Under Pressure - Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situationsPhysical Demands:· Must be able to walk and or stand for extended period and push or lift 20 pounds or more.Job Type: Full-time- 8 hour shifts (2 days off)- 10 hour shifts (3 days off)- 12 hour shifts (4 days off)- 13 hour shifts (4 days off) These options could also include workweeks that look like: - Thursday - Sunday - Monday - Wednesday, etc.Salary: $11.16 - $19.48 per hourExperience level:2 yearsRestaurant type:Casual dining restaurantFine dining restaurantShift:Day shiftEvening shiftMorning shiftNight shiftWeekly day range:Monday to FridayWeekend availabilityAbility to commute/relocate:Miami, FL 33127: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Experience:Restaurant experience: 1 year (Preferred)Shift availability:Day Shift (Preferred)Night Shift (Preferred)Work Location: One locationBy applying to this job, you agree to receive periodic text messages from this employer and Homebase about your pending job application.
