This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is interested in growing within a culinary setting that finds delight in the details that take our guests experience beyond expectation.Responsibilities: Report to work on time in uniform and meet grooming standardsAbility to execute all cooking methods and knife skills required by the assigned stationCommunicate effectively with other departmentsComplete special projects assigned by managementCleans and maintains station while practicing good safety, sanitation and organizational skillsQualifications: Past experience in fine dining restaurants and /or luxury hotel restaurantsCooking or vocational school, apprenticeship or proven 2 years experience in a fine dining restaurant /or luxury hotelWorking knowledge and understanding of classical, traditional and modern cuisine, including recipes and techniquesStable work history that indicates reliabilityAble to speak, read and write English Flexible demeanor with ability to focus on customer service for both external and internal guests Able to meet the physical demands of this position with regard to walking, standing, bending, climbing, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 70 lbsAbility to adapt easily to changing temperatures in the kitchenFood handling courses and licenses desirable, but able to pass Food Handler Certification courses within ninety days of hire Independently owned and operated, The Jefferson, Washington DC, offers competitive wages, paid time off, and comprehensive benefit plans for full-time employees!
