Job DescriptionJob DescriptionLine Cook Ruby’s Southern Comfort Kitchen 4410 Mitchellville Road Bowie Maryland, 20716 Job Duties/Requirements:An experienced Line Cook will have excellent food preparation and cooking skills. They will know the different methods of chopping vegetables, dividing meat, fileting fish, and combining salads, herbs, and spices, along with how to portion dishes and work with precision to bring recipes to life. They will also know the safe and proper methods of operating different kitchen appliances and utensils. They will need the stamina to work long hours in a fast-paced kitchen. They also need to be able to lift heavy objects and collaborate effectively with other kitchen staff to meet client and executive expectations. Assist cooks and crew members as needed, especially during peak hours. Report any serious incidents to upper management. Perform other duties as assigned/requested.Please note: These positions are full-time and part-time. Some positions will require weekend and holiday shifts. Essential Functions: ● Assisting with stocking and setting up the kitchen stations. ● Preparing food including cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking main dishes, desserts, appetizers, and catering orders. ● Transferring prepared foods based on the chef’s guidance. ● Prepare basic components of each dish on our menu using our provided recipes ● Memorize and utilize our serving portion sizes and all basic meal prep procedures used in the kitchen ● Monitor product freshness and rotate out old products based on quality control schedule. ● Working with the crew members to ensure that orders are completed according to request and on time. ● Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of shifts. ● Ensure that the kitchen, all food prep areas, and all food storage areas meet restaurant cleaning standards ● Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations. ● Leads kitchen staff in the absence of a supervisor. ● Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications/Skills/Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required. Prior experience is preferred, but not required. Must be able to pass a Level II background check Job Type: Part-time and Full-time Salary: $16.00 - $19.00/hour based on experience
