We are excited to announce nineteen (19) openings for Line Tech Apprentices or Line Tech Journey Level positions across several locations.Locations include:VeronaBaraboo - ResourceBaraboo - District*Platteville - District*Mineral Point - District*Amherst*Monroe*Wisconsin Rapids*RiponRipon*Beaver Dam*Wautoma*Elkhorn*Janesville*Stoughton* The start date for one or both of these positions will be determined at a later date.Note: District positions are required to meet a 25-minute residency requirement while Resource positions are required to meet a 45-minute residency requirement.Our crews are made up of expert leads journey level and apprentices are supported by strong leadership and have a trusted commitment to safety and ethics. We have a dedicated safety team that supports our crews and each employee is provided training and development to succeed empowering them to grow and advance. You will work with our team to do new construction maintain existing facilities and respond to outages.Constructs dismantles maintains replaces and repairs electric lines stations substations and other properties as required.What you will doSets guys and frames poles towers and other structures.Installs splices and secures conductors.Installs and maintains transformers conductors regulators breakers switches fuses street lighting equipment lightning arrestors etc.; (overhead and underground).Works on energized lines and equipment. Works with live line maintenance tools Keeps informed on and abides by the required Safety Rules Operating Practices and codes pertaining to all phases of line work.Maintains proper line clearances.Trims trees.May lead and assist in training others in the same or lower classifications.Performs other duties which are similar related or incidental to this position.Education RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GEDRequired ExperienceSuccessful completion of line technician apprenticeshipSatisfactory passage of line technician examinationPreferred ExperienceSuccessful completion of line technician apprenticeship (for Journey Level ONLY)Satisfactory passage of line technician examination (for Journey Level ONLY)Other RequirementsMust possess a valid drivers license.Ability to obtain a Commercial Drivers License prior to the end of trial periodThis position is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug/alcohol testing (CFR 49 Parts 40 and 382) and is subject to drug/alcohol testing according to said regulations.Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesGood reading comprehension mathematics skillsDemonstrated ability to do ordinary line construction operating and maintenance work line trouble shooting and transformer installation including three-phase and parallel bankingReasonable knowledge of work order procedure and allocation of chargesKnowledge of the requirements of the State Electrical Code and company standards for line constructionFamiliarity with live line maintenance tools and their useThorough knowledge of the Company Safety Rules and Operating Practices relating to line construction and maintenanceAbility to write clearly and concisely make understandable diagrams ability to express oneself orallyThe ability to perform the physical requirements of the jobSensitivity to public opinion and property owners rights.Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.Key SkillsOur people are passionate about what they do the product they sell and the customers they serve.
