Full-timeDescriptionOur Head Start program is looking for a Teacher Assistant to join our team at our Belle Vernon center. Using your knowledge of child development you will assist the teacher in providing a safe and nurturing learning environment. You will provide this support by:Supervising children in all program related activitiesAssisting the children with self-help skills and/or toiletingOrganizing and sustaining the positive functioning of children in a group andBuilding the positive self-concept and individual strengths in each child.Westmoreland Community Action is a non-profit organization that works to connect individuals and families to opportunities and resources throughout the community to improve their quality of life and help to reduce poverty in the community. This is accomplished through housing counseling support education intervention collaborations partnerships information referrals and networking.Head Start is a free program that serves children ages 3-5 and their families in both learning centers and the home. Head Start provides pre-Kindergarten learning experiences for young children to help prepare them for a smooth transition into Kindergarten.
