Lastly, our customers choose WPI based on the emphasis we place on communication, trust, and respect.Job DescriptionThe Logistics Specialist role is responsible for managing the flow of goods from suppliers to the WPI factory, back out to value-add suppliers, and ultimately then on to end customers. This is accomplished by coordinating transportation, tracking shipments, understanding inventory positions, being connected to manufacturing output, analyzing logistics data, developing strategic relationships with carriers, and collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery while adhering to applicable regulations. The goal is to optimize supply chain efficiency and manage all costs associated with transportation.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, manage and evaluate logistics operations liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics providers, transportation companies and customersDevelop forecasting plans to ensure sufficient capacity at carriersEstablish priorities, track shipments real-time, and ensure availability of capable providersKeep records of all shipments (Packing Lists, BOLs, receipt confirmations)Maintain shipping schedules and hit deadlines for rush shipmentsMonitor and report on supply chain performance metrics, such as on-time delivery, actual spend vs target, and cost savingsCreate and implement best practice logistics principles, policies and processes across the organization to improve operational and financial performanceDrive creation of packaging requirements and lead the sourcing of these materialsNegotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providersSelect carriers/suppliers and monitor service against performance criteriaEnsure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or deliveryResolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, and customer issuesReview impact of logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or carriers and report results to othersDrive continuous improvement initiatives and identify cost optimization opportunitiesInterpret trends and analyze and review data. Provide meaningful logistics data to others in the organization to aid customer service and cost improvementsEnsure IT systems in place are effective, maintained and accurateEnsure compliance with all applicable regulations and stay updated on industry standardsLocation / HoursOn site in Salt Lake City, UT. Day shift, 40 hours per week.Basic RequirementsAt least 3 years' proven work experience as a Logistics ManagerAttention to detail and able to support multiple complex deployment projects simultaneouslyGood understanding of supply chain processes and their interdependenciesStrong IT systems knowledge, including advanced Excel skillsKnowledge and experience of using ERP/MRP systemsProficient in standard logistics softwareAbility to work autonomously and exercises discretion and independent judgementProject management skillsCommercial and financial acumen with a full understanding of the impact of failure in terms of business cost, production schedules and customer order fulfilmentPreferred RequirementsBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Operations ManagementExpert knowledge of technical regulations related to logistics such as import/export and customs regulations, including security requirements and dangerous goods handlingAPICS CLTD certificationKnowledge of lean techniques would be advantageousSkills & AttributesProfessional verbal and written communicationExcellent analytical skills, problem solving, and organizational skillsDemonstrated follow through and problem-solving skills for nuanced transportation issues including tax implicationsHighly skilled communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externallyOrganizational and logistics skillsAttention to detail and ownership of issue resolutionCritical thinking and problem solvingTeam oriented - proactively contributes to the teamAssertive, optimistic, resilient and welcomes changeSelf-motivated and able to work under pressureThis role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.BenefitsAt WPI our employees are our greatest asset.
