At Aspire we set a foundation for ourscholars to gain knowledge skills and power to access and make choices for their families and post-secondary lives.Every day our community of students families teachers and staff comes together to learn work and play in anenvironment grounded in our values of Bienestar (Well-Being) Culture of Belonging Community Partnership Agency &Self-Determination and Joy.GENERAL SUMMARY:The Teacher Long Term On-Site Substitute provides a high quality personalized education program for students usingthe Aspire approach in classrooms when the regular classroom teacher is not available. This role will support long termonsite sub assignments and will work at one specific school site and is considered to be a constant in terms of the staffat their school site and fills in for any position at the school site that is needed on a daily basis.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Follows classroom systems/procedures established by regular classroom teacher and manages student behaviorto ensure all students are fully engaged in learning2. Reinforces a culture of high expectations that includes college preparation for all students3. Implements lesson plans and classroom activities consistent with California State Standards Aspire InstructionalGuidelines and teacher plans for substitutes4. Assesses students regularly in accordance with Aspire guidelines and teacher plans for substitutes and refinesclassroom activities to differentiate instruction for each student5. Collaborates with Aspire team members to improve own and others instructional practices; shares bestpractices6. Actively participates in professional development activities as requested by principals and RVP including:training sessions and working with lead teacher principal instructional coaches7. Provides regular classroom teachers with timely information on classroom activities and student progress8. Tracks critical student information and maintains accurate student records including attendance in accordancewith Aspire procedures9. Collaborates with regular classroom teachers other team members and outside service providers to addresslearning challenges in accordance with individual student plans10. Schedule own coverage of regular classroom teachers classrooms according to priorities set by RVP; track workschedule11. Demonstrate knowledge of and support Aspire Public Schools mission vision value statements standardspolicies and procedures operating instructions confidentiality standards and the code of ethical behavior.12. Perform other related duties as required and assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Required knowledge skills & abilities: Knowledge of child cognitive development and different learning styles Knowledge of subject matter including California State Standards and subject-specific frameworks Knowledge of assessments Ability and willingness to implement Aspire Instructional Guidelines and Best Practices Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data Ability and willingness to reflect and improve Ability to collaborate with colleagues parents and community Willingness to drive to Aspire schools within a 45 minute driving radius Computer and Internet search skillsMinimum educational level & Licensure/Credentials: Bachelors degree Valid California Teaching Credential or Teaching Permit for Statutory Leave in appropriate subject areaExperience required: 1 year working with students as a teacher teacher intern or teaching assistant preferredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confinedspaces Remaining in a stationary position often standing or sitting for prolonged periods Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another Assessing the accuracy neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned Communicating with others to exchange information Repeating motions that may include the wrists hands and/or fingersWORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics are representative of those in a normal office classroom/schoolsetting which one might encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Work indoors in a standard office environment computer lab and/or classroomenvironment. Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments. Exposure to dust oils and cleaning chemicals. Some exposure to childhood and other diseases in a school environment.
