TheLuce Elementary Schoolis seeking an exceptional and dynamic candidate to serve as the long term substitute educator for DLS from February through May 2026. Thelong term substitute educator for DLS will join a vibrant and supportive team that places a high priority on collaboration creativity flexibility and commitment to the goals of the District and to our students families and staff.TheLuce Elementary Schoolis an inclusive community for all students and staff and serve over 500Studentsstudents in gradesK-5. The Luce Elementary Schoolis elevating the educational experience for our students by cultivating a school culture and climate that promotes academic growth and social emotional learning for every student and ensures high quality teaching and learning through the purposeful design of rigorous and equitable student experiences.We are eager to find the next member of our team who collaborates with other educators to create the conditions necessary so that every child experiences the true joy of learning the excitement of achievement areas of passion and an authentic sense of belonging in their school.JOB SUMMARYTeachers provide a well-organized smoothly functioning class environment in which students can access and make progress toward Massachusetts standards-based curriculum and develop social and emotional skills in order to participate in society while providing a safe and supportive educational environment for all students. The Elementary Digital Learning Specialists primary responsibilities are to (1) provide and support instruction of elements of the Department of Elementary and Secondary Educations (DESE) current Digital Learning and Computer Science Standards (DLCS) to students in grades K-5 and (2) to model and support educators on effective integration of digital tools and resources within the curriculum. Digital Learning Specialists work in collaboration with the elementary library aides during a shared special to provide both library and technology/STEM learning activities. When not providing direct instruction the Digital Learning Specialists will support educators on integrating technology and digital literacy into the classroom.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Plan prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences that meet the needs of all learnersDevelop lesson plans that align with the state standards and district-determined high quality instructional curricula and are culturally and linguistically responsiveEstablish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activitiesSupport teachers in technology and digital learning instructional activitiesCoordinate and collaborate with the library aidesContinuously engage in reflective practice regarding curricula instruction and culturally responsive practicesCreate culturally and linguistically responsive classroom environmentBuild strong relationships with students to create a culture of belongingPrepare the classroom for class activitiesIncorporate a variety of culturally and linguistically responsive learning materials and resources for use in educational activitiesIdentify select and implement differentiated instructional resources and methods to meet students varying needs based on dataInstruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment aligned to the District approved curriculum and/or Massachusetts State StandardsUse relevant technology to support instructionFollows and implements individual student safety plans IEPs 504s health care plans behavior support plans etc.Observe and evaluate students performance and development using data; use data to drive decisions and adapt instruction assessments and assignments as appropriateProvide appropriate feedback on assessments and/or student workEncourage and monitor the progress of individual students using dataMaintain accurate and complete records of students progress development and attendance as appropriateSupport the social and emotional well-being of students during the school dayManage student behavior in the classroom and school by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the student handbookParticipate in department and school meetings parent/guardian meetingsCommunicate necessary information regularly to students colleagues and parents/guardians regarding student progress and student needsKeep up to date with developments in subject area teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activitiesCollaborate with student services staff; special educators and other related service providersPerforms other duties specifically articulated within the collective bargaining agreement as assigned by building principal and/or District administrationQUALIFICATIONS:Valid Massachusetts DESE teacher certification that is appropriate for the grade level and subject area assigned.
