Job Description
This is a long term substitute teacher position. Anticipated start date March 4 2026POSITION DESCRIPTION:This Special Education Teacher works in Alcotts Anchor program for students with social/emotional disabilities. He/she is responsible for ensuring that students get the academic and behavioral support needed to access content and curriculum. This individual is responsible for writing and following Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) and adhering to state and federal regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES:Implement district learning goals and objectives in alignment with state small-group instruction to students diagnosed with moderate to severe emotional disabilities to ensure progress in the general and implement data based Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and provide timely and regular progress reports on student needed accommodations for student learning and testing when with staff to ensure IEPs are implemented with fidelity and individual student needs are being routines and expectations within the special education program. Coordinate with other program staff general education teachers and related service providers to ensure routines and expectations are consistent across different environments. Facilitate the development of individual student behavior plans. Support staff in implementation of behavior plans. Evaluate the effectiveness of plans and make adjustments as responsive lines of communication between students families and staff involved in the Branch Program. Support students in a variety of settings depending on student needs. Examples include within the special education program in the general education classroom and in specialty classes. Supervise special education tutors/assistants in maintaining a therapeutic environment and implementing behavior plans. QUALIFICATIONS (Required):Active and valid MA DESE Moderate Disabilities PreK-8 LicenseSEI EndorsementOrton-Gillingham (or other rules based reading) trainingAbility to navigate ADA Massachusetts law SPED law and district policies to ensure fidelity and compliance of IEPs and national and state law. QUALIFICATIONS (Preferred):Masters Degree in EducationMinimum of three years professional experience working with students with emotional disabilitiesExcellent writing skills and proven success with FBAs and behavior intervention plans Key Skills Experience Working With Students,Early Childhood Education,Classroom Management,Classroom Experience,Lesson Planning,Preschool Experience,Special Education,Computer Literacy,Teaching,Cordova,Experience with Children,Toddler Care Employment Type : Full-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
